As an OL u want to allow the pass rusher up field on a screen "pretend to get beat"

Exactly. The Dl should've known something was up when they started to get actual pressure and easy pressure at that.

That's what separates average defenses from good , a good defense is like " this was way too easy, SCREEN"!!!

A few notes from the early part of practice
- Al is officially the ST coordinator....not surprising...he was defacto ST coordinator last year.

-Fentress is now a DB ...will still be a monster on STs

- Dorsett and Crawford oing lots of PR work this AM

-Coach D was trying to provide a little "extra motivation" for Tyriq this am

K. Ricky Perez was kicking it well inside 40...further than that...smh

Gray Crow was holding...operation was suspect

That's why he's a backup

Easy to see why.. poor diagnosis or lack of film study...... maybe both

To be fair Perryman is at the same depth that Cornelius is on that play and reacted to it at the same time. Cornelius was actually dropping to keep depth with the slot WR on the play. People like to rip on Tyrone, but he's doing what he's supposed to do on that play. It was a well timed screen. Bigger question is even if it wasn't a screen shouldn't someone have the back out the backfield?

looks like the defense was in cover 2 so no one really has RB responsibility. just a great call vs the defense, only hope is the D-line reads it

Great question, I would think the OLB would have that responsibility and Mike would have the inside hook screens. Yes it was a very well timed screen.

He was a starting tackle for all 12 games last year as a soph. Bunche's career is just getting started.

Al always talks about rebuilding the culture. Those of you talkin' this mess about what doesn't mean something are still stuck in that Shannon/Coker state of mind. "Oh its just spring ball. Its only the first day, blah blah." If this was back in 2002 when AJ missed all of spring ball because he cheated on an exam or something THEN I would agree that something could be deemed meaningless because our **** didn't stink AT ALL at that time. But we dont have that luxury now of letting these 7-6 kids think that something doesnt mean much. ESPECIALLY offseason workouts and depth charts. At what starting point do you think championship teams are made from..August 1st Fall ball? Yeah go tell that to Saban. Thats why that phuckin' prick owns college football right now because DAY1 of spring ball MEANS SOMETHING to him. Guarantee it..

JMO and no im not mad. Lol. But I want this team to turn the corner this year. This is a VERY important year for the program and I want the kids to take it serious. Or like one poster said we are all just getting worked up only to have another 6-6 season and for this board to meltdown yet another year.
