Dawson Scheme notes

I just started diving into this a bit, but if I'm a DC I'm gonna take away the deep ball which is usually the first read in Dawson's offense, especially if I have a disruptive front 4. Like most Air Raid passing concepts, it's timing-based, so bumping WRs, disrupting timing, disguising pressure, anything to keep the ball in the QBs hands that extra tick.
That translates into a lot of receptions for the safety valves because TVD isn't D'eriq King.

But if you have a good OL, that means some distance once a rusher gets past the DL.
Oh no question, but when they ran into trouble was when the secondary took away the deep first read, and the QB didn't find that safety valve until 3, 4, 5 seconds into his progression. With more talented players who can make the first guy miss though, yeah.

I can't see TVD waiting too long. He isn't quick to run.

What does that prove other than you went and copied and pasted some crap off the internet? Go show me whats bad about his offenses and scheme. I can find a trained monkey to copy and paste ****. Some of y’all just run to stats.com and that’s your case lol. Go watch some Houston games like others have and then tell me why his offense / philosophy sucks? If not this is silly and a waste of time.
But in his world view the "wing" came off the jet, Crib. He does not care why or how it happened. His analogy is basura. He got called out. You are not asking for him to do differential equations, but it is clear this guy has not mastered basic algebra. He cannot answer your question regarding Dawson's offense and/or philosophy. BTW, I like my analogy better. LoL

With TVD you could go 2 backs and give an Early motion, then either give the counter or throw the bubble.

He’s athletic enough to get you some yards in some of these schemes.

You can build a whole O just off GT and YT.
Especially with a back like Chris Johnson who you can motion out wide as a receiver from the RB spot or vice versa to force favorable matchups.

Thats where having top notch TEs (something Houston didnt have) and backs who know how to leak out from the backfield and settle into the open areas of the D as safety valves come into play.

Georgia shut down TCU in the championship game. Clearly, Garrett Riley is a trash coach and the Clemson shouldn't have hired him.
Truth. Apparently when you have a good coordinator your offense simply shouldn't get shut down. Ergo, Riley is a bad coordinator. Boy will Dabo's face be red when he finds out.

One thing this offense absolutely requires is a true #1 WR. Someone that can be counted on to win 1-on-1 battles. Hopefully we can find one in the portal because nobody on our current roster fills that need.
It was one thing that I was really concerned about this time last season

When you went back and watched TVD and our offense, not to take away from Lashlee or TVD too much, but Rambo bailed that offense out constantly

Didn’t think we had anyone to replace that but also the offense didn’t do them any favors either

But @cway313 tells no lies this is hands down the #1 area of need, and to be honest we have no excuse not to land good WRs

Somebody tried to tell the board this new offense would work w/o a #1 like this wasn't 2023. Refreshing to see truth tellers on CIS.

I’d expect us to land 2 portal WRs, with one aiming to be the new Rambo.

Adding to the whole "needing a #1 WR" thing, what I've found so far in looking at Dawson's offense is that it creates more 1-on-1 opportunities than it does "wide open" guys. So the deep ball will definitely be there, but the WR is gonna have to come down with it and make a play. That's why we can't necessarily just plug anybody in and have them put up 1500 yards.
