Dawson Scheme notes

Anybody noticing how less productive Houston’s Offense is today without Dawson?

No, just me?

Interesting how Houston's Offense has swan dived into Oblivion over the last 2 seasons...

I wonder what happened?

Oh & if you see anybody ever suggest that we hire Joe Moorehead, in any capacity, hit them in the byke of their neck with a Sledgehammer.

Nice bump!

Continuing the discussion… Dawson has been amazing with Ward to date. I like the new Power I under center wrinkle given our personnel. Not sure why we were keeping the RPO set as our base given Ward never pulls and runs, only pulls to pass. I like the play action better with him.

Houston changed head coaches and is in a four year rebuild thanks to Dawson’s uncle Dana tanking the program.

The ratio of “Guidry is awesome” to “Dawson is awesome posts” on this site is at least 5 to 1.

Two years in a row Dawson putting a better product on the field on Saturdays. Hmm.
Shoutout to the big dawg. I’m a big fan of Guidry too. But I kinda outlined the advantages Dawson would have over him. We have nfl players at every skill position. On defense all of our draft picks are on the defensive line

Anyone still criticizing Dawson just doesn't understand football at all - considering we're halfway through our season and currently ranked the #1 offense in the country.

It's not too late to edit your post lol. An RPO is a "Run Pass Option". Hand off to RB, or Pass.

Not a QB run.

Run Pass Option does not mean the quarterback has the option to run or pass. It usually means he has the option to hand the ball off or pass. Like play action pass with the option of just handing it off if the defense plays a certain way. The zone read/read option is when the quarterback either hands off or runs with the ball. Occasionally teams will run a read/RPO where all three options are available but it’s usually one or the other.

I will say, still one thing that leaves me wanting more from Dawson is the running game creativity.

I'd just like to see a few more runs to the outside, Stretch plays, tosses, counters.

I know it's not our style (and our run game to the outside comes more in the form of screen passes), but a few of those a game can keep defenses honest from just committing to the middle of the field.

Would love to see more stretch plays. Also wider gaps every now and then.

Loved that run play Fletcher scored on against UF. Have we seen it since?

Nope. But that’s a deep red play. Think that was from the 9 yard line? But we’re 15th in the country in red zone TD percentage. That part of the offense has been excellent. Like just about every other part as well.
