DT was much worse. Not even close

Towards the end of the year with Porter back, along with a developing Pierre and Luther Robinson, DE was without a doubt our worst position on defense.

Just no talent there ready to contribute. Chickillo is our #1 DE when his talent level should make him a rotational guy. Something like Andrew Smith from a couple years back.

Chick was a beast in that GT game. Unfortunately he just wasn't ready physically to play a bajillion snaps last year. I think this will be a big year for him, but he just isn't the pass rush threat some, perhaps foolishly, expected. He will grind out some sacks though.

Good DTs make it easier on DEs, I think we can all agree. If Porter and Pierre play up to their potential, I think we will see a lot more consistent production out of Chickillo, McCord, and anyone else we use off the edge.

No doubt. Unfortunately last year by the time Porter and Pierre gained some traction, our DE's were already shot to ****.

I think it will be a more accurate gauge of the talent if we can start the season fresh and healthy at the same time (duh)

why do people have no faith in tyriq mccord? i know he is starting a new position but this guy lead our team is sacks as a 217 pd true freshmen defensive end.

Pretty sure he's up to like 230 or so IIRC. We got a real S&C progrum now.

I'm not saying DE was stacked but portee was our only good DT. And he didn't even play the whole year.

Chickillo is much better than a rotational guy. He can be very good for us. Chick completely transformed his body in 2 years from 230 to 270+ lbs, and remember that he was only a true Sophomore last year. Most DL, even the elite guys, don't see a lot of burn until their RS SO or true Junior year, and I expect a huge leap from both him and Pierre this year.

That said, we really need Gilbert. It's not like Green doesn't have his own injury problems. I agree Gilbert would have an instant impact on the field for us.

Everyone loves McCord. He's just a young light weak dude who shouldn't have played last year. In an ideal situation, he should be a RS FR this year and barely play this year.

I keep hearing how he led the team in sacks. How many did he have? Leading our team in sacks last year is like being the skinniest new contestant on "The Biggest Loser".

Chick is definitely a starter on a good team. He is an 8-10 sack guy if surrounded by the right people. He is not the problem, he just also is not Clowney level.

Pierre came on big time in the second half of the season.

Chick would be alot better if he wasn't playing 100 downs a game with 30 seconds of rest with our quick strike offense. We had nobody to rotate that poor kid out, so what does he get from our fanbase other than "He Isn't explosive enough". No ****. Kid was dogging the whole season and gets nothing but hate for being preposterously overworked as a true soph.
