I love that we hired an actual DT coach. Teaching interior DL is different from teaching an edge player. I know DB coaches will disagree with me but it's absolutely true.

I've always found that coaches who only have experience playing/teaching edge players, don't understand that it's not the same game on the inside of the DL

Hopefully hiring one means actually bringing in some….and yes, I know all about the “potential” in a couple of future all stars blah blah blah

This was an excellent hire. Forget the fact that Lewis played here. He's a great young technical coach and an even better teacher. Before this hiring process began I must have said a million times over how we needed technical coaches who are great teachers. With the hiring of DC Hetherman, CB coach Etheridge and DT coach Lewis, we have done exactly that. We still need 1 or 2 more but so far I couldn't have scripted this any better.

This assumes Mario prevented Hetherman from bringing his own people. It maybe that Mario gave him an opportunity to bring his people but they chose to stay in Minnesota, or go elsewhere.
My assumption is that Mario and Hetherman interviewed the new hires after watching a lot of film on their schemes. But this too is an assumption. If I’m wrong, then your comment about Mario never learning is spot on.

@DMoney, are you able to speak on how the dline was ran last season? Was guidry dictating line assignments in his calls or was that handled by JT?

Think real hard about it. Do you honestly think JT wanted his DE's stunting and dropping back into coverage? Do you know JT's history when he played. Guy was a pass rushing machine. He hated Guirdy and his scheme and we will see what the DE's are supposed to look like under a new scheme where JT is free to let the dogs loose.
