DAILY DEBATE: Who was your biggest disappointment in Miami history?

I won't name one particular player, but disappointment in the team as a whole.

Coin flip between 1986 team and 2002 team. Both arguably the best teams in the sports' history at the time and lost to inferior competition in the national championship game.

The 1986 game after talking ****, strutting around like roosters in a hen house, and the whole steak dinner fiasco. If they do that ****, they need to back it up and they didn't. More disappointed in the players than the coaches for that one.

The 2002 team lost after winning 34 in a row againt the Suckeyes. More disappointed in the coaches than the players in that one.

It’s 2 games from 2005 for me. Started with GT loss in the OB with Natty implications..then Miami VS LSU peach bowl. Made us look silly & got whipped physically.

Seantrel Henderson. Came in and looked like a BEAST against FAMU if I remember correctly. Then underachieved and didnt progress much like all the players under Randy Shannon. Marcus Forston is another one.

All of the obvious answers have already been said, so I'll go in a little different direction with an Honorable Mention:
Randy Shannon

He was undeniably a fantastic DC, the definition of a "Miami Guy." He appeared to be a disciplinarian but was also loved by the players. I thought he would be the guy who was going to stop the slide to mediocrity.
A serious and stoic figure on the sidelines.....

But man was I wrong, he was completely clueless. Way in over his head. Simply was not qualified to successfully run a major college football program.

He hired bad OC's (Maybe except for the one who famously called him a dumb mother f***er).
I might not be remembering this correctly, but is it true that he boasted about never stepping foot in Miami Central to recruit? But I do remember watching that Wisconsin TE get what felt like 1000 receiving yards in the Champs Bowl.

And then finally, he went on to coach at both UF and FSU. Gross.


Radio might not be the biggest disappointment in (recent) Miami history, but IMO he's certainly in the conversation.

Remember that timeout he called against Cal? I've seen some dumb crap in my football watching life, but that was just painful. "Clock stopped? Now's a good time for a timeout."

Mario has had some real head scratchers, too, but Shannon took the cake with some of his moves. Mario at times at least looks like he has a grasp on the situation.

As for players, I gotta go with Willie Williams as well. Now, had Willie Williams come in under Butch Davis, things might have been different. Coming in under Larry Coker was a disaster. Larry Coker is another huge disappointment.

As for Kyle Wright, yeah, he was a disappointment. That being said, I don't recall any teams in the history of UM football having more passes dropped than when Wright was QB. There are dropped passes, then there are the 2005-2007 Hurricanes. How the **** he completed around 60% of his passes with all those drops is mind blowing, because I just don't remember him completing that high of a percentage.

Ohhh, that brings me to Aldarius "Poo Hands" Johnson, and Lance "Butter Fingers" Leggett. Dear lord, isn't it a wide receiver's job to catch the **** ball? Even Greg Olsen had the drops during that time, and he was **** good. Never, ever seen so many 3rd down drops from a group than from those 2005-07 Hurricanes.
