DAILY DEBATE: What adjustments would you make on offense going from Ward to Beck?

We just need to play more complementary football this season. Run the ball more. Slow down the offense some to protect both Beck and the defense if they are still struggling this season.
I think if our defense plays like we think it should, we’ll be more balanced on offense. In most of our games, we had no choice but to air it out, specifically during the VT and Cal when we were behind early

Wanna see the defense play alot better for 1. A better run game i like what GT did to us last year an VT. Seems like we jus run it up the guard an tackles *** an thats it. Next put our best recevier at slot think that will help in Dawsons offence! Stack up in spring Portal. I think as a team we actually be better than last year. Cam Ward has alot on his plate i think this years team will be alot better overall alot less shoot outs with it all on Cam an **** D think thats over with.

More power run like we did in 2023. Love the spread stuff we ran this year with Cam I just don’t know how Beck can run it but maybe he can rip it in that

How good this Offense will be in 2025 depends on how hard this OL is going in the offseason at this very moment. If they can be like UGA's OLs, then Miami will crush on O. You have to know you have that going into the fall camps. If we don't, there's no way to really fix that in season.

I think beck can absolutely succeed in the same type of offense we ran with Cam. We didnt design runs for Cam and he only took off when there were no options there. I happen to believe our WRs were a bit over rated by our fan base as a whole last year and I dont see there being much of a dropoff at that position assuming we grab one big time starter from the portal.

The running game needs more diversity. Seeing 2 running backs in the back field on each side of the QB last year was great! Need more of that. I would like to see some pistol with some 2 and 3 TE sets. Counters, sweeps, etc. We will have the top running backs in the conference and a top 2 OL if not the best. We should really be pushing people around and running for 4 a clip.

I think Jojo is going to be THE MAN! I foresee a huge season for him. Lofton is a swiss army knife, lets keep him healthy.

To answer the question simply put, dont change much, but the changes you do make, make it make sense.

We were up on VT at first and then got cute in the redzone that cost us going up 21-7 on them. In addition, we ran the ball down Cal's throat that first drive. It seemed like we panicked last year and abandoned the run to play in shootouts when games got close. Regardless, we just need to be more complimentary and put our defense in a good spot.

Just utilize the skill sets we have at our disposal…

For example… if a young RB isn’t great in pass blocking but is a home run threat when he touches the ball then find an away to get him touches. It’s not that hard… I get rewarding those who put the work in but we also need to maximize our talent

And no I’m not related to Ajay Allen or Chris Johnson 😎

I want our linemen to start throwing sand in the opposition’s eyes at the snap. I don’t see any rule against it.

I'm not so sure I'd change anything just yet. Which is wild considering I also think we're going to a huge step back on O.

We don't have the depth at RB to go too far down the tuff and phyzical road. We don't have any Cam McCormicks blocking at TE either.

Maaaybe we use more 12 personnel. But using Lofton and Bauman over another WR makes sense. Nickel is unlikely to be much of a factor.

So basically.. IF Beck understands the O, our O-line can pass block and our WRs can get open/catch, then we probably need to stick with the system that produced literally the best offense in the country.

Like a poster said earlier in this thread. More diversity in the run game. Pretty much our entire running game is inside zone/RPO. I like the inside zone and RPO stuff, but I wanna see us run more Power, counters, outside zones. And diversify our screen game a little more.

Wouldnt be surprised if the run game isn't as smooth without Ward striking fear in defenses and the board switches from "pound the ball" to "**** it, just air it out" by midseason.

I’m starting to think a lot of people don’t even watch our games anymore.

We weren’t some throw it every down, super fast offense last year despite what some posters here want to believe. We were 14th in time of possession last year. We ran 71 plays per game and threw it 54% of the time. If you include Florida A&M that percentage is even lower because we threw it 33 times and ran it 38 times against them. Georgia had. Higher percentage of pass plays last year.

As for giving the defense time to rest, I already mentioned that we were in the top 15 in the nation in time of possession last year. Do we need to just run the clock down to one every single play? How much rest do they need? Some of you want to turn us into Georgia Tech. We were better at running the ball than they were last year too. We were 5th in the nation in yards per rush last year.

The only thing I want to see is that we don’t HAVE to throw it as much because we’re not in a shootout every week and we can take our foot off the gas’s in the fourth quarter of some of these games. If our defense can just play at a top 50 level, we will be just fine offensively.

More often than not, a successful QB has been one that the OC asked what he’s comfortable with, then building/complementing around that. It boils down to Dawson being that coach.

Watch all the 2023 UGA tape with him and get him comfortable with those type of throws. 72% completion with 9.5 yards per completion. Get him and Lofton super comfortable with one another and take what’s there.
They may have already done that........the thing that is most important is the reps while injured.
Even if he throws left handed as some reports are saying his is doing...the set up, eye awareness, timing and cuts, including the traits of his W/R's e are all important for timing and being on the same page, right now in the IPF.
When plays that are called..even in basic tendencies........ like his cadence is important... and bonding with his players at all levels is crucial...Cam showed the way for this earlier

Hopefully he opts to check down more than Cam did. We left points on the board in a lot of games (hit on a lot of big plays too) and turned it over some looking for the big play.
