DAILY DEBATE: What adjustment do you want to see against Wake Forest?

I'm expecting the same game we've seen thru out ACC play. Wake Forest goes up double digits and it takes Cam Ward and the defense to wake up 2 and half quarters into the game. We win 44-29

The entire defense to wake the fck up..

Cam we get it your dripping nonchalant in the pocket but if your first two reads aren't open just check it down you don't have to make a Heisman play every drive..

Still waiting for a long broken tackle td run by any of our backs in crucial moments instead of relying on Cam to do everything..

Give Lofton the ball more, kids a menace..

Running some more sweeps on offense getting their defense moving sideline to sideline along with controlled up tempo. Having the QB not be a superstar and hit the TE and check downs.
Defense side - set the edge and tackle

Honestly I was very pro-“Play shell coverage and try to make offenses drive methodically, if we clean up the big plays the defense is fine”…. And then last week happened. Part of me almost thinks just go man heavy, send Kiko through the A gap every single play he’s on the field (literally. Every one.), and just hope either you cause some havoc or they score quick and keep the offense off the bench. I don’t know that we can cover in man or zone.

But seriously. As others have mentioned, just be ******* lined up and not clearly out-leveraged before the ball is even snapped. So many plays where the offense has a clear numbers advantage that anyone can see and you don’t even have to understand football to know the geometry is against us.

Coverage was fine. It was the run defense that sunk us. Got to set the edge and tackle.

Combine that with simple zone coverages and cut the stunts, we should be better.

Blitz more.

Maybe we create some havoc plays to force 3 & outs.

If they beat the blitz, at least they're not shortening the game with 17-play drives.

Coverage wasn’t our biggest issue but I definitely wouldn’t classify it as “fine.” Tech had dudes wide open on multiple 3rd down and obvious plays—on top of the ones they converted—and either missed an easy throw or dropped an easy catch (I’m still shook by that 3rd and 12 where we covered the slot receiver to the near side with the safety from the far hash, I thought I was seeing things)

Edge setting has been non-existent for weeks now. Hopefully Alston plays because Baron is killing us.

I tend to agree with you though, drop into a shell, rush straight up instead of the slow developing twists that aren’t getting home and also kill our contain, and see what happens. But if it turns out we can’t stop people that way either, just be aggressive and if you get burned at least your good unit has as many shots as possible and maybe you speed them up a little bit here and there and get some takeaways. But stuff like a ten and a half minute drive can’t happen, its going to cause the offense to press.
