DAILY DEBATE: What adjustment do you want to see against Wake Forest?

with the slow mesh, I would give a shot of going back to guidrys wheelhouse of heavy blitz, yes we may give up some slants but we need to start creating negative plays again

I want to be able to come to the board on Sunday and see: “Miami made an adjustment to what Wake was giving us/showing vs Wake had another great game plan against us and made us play their game.” - which is basically what we did for the last 6 weeks.

maybe their brains dont explode whenever someone goes into motion.

offense continue to do what theyve done all year. they need to be on the field so no more 10 min deficits in time of possession

Quit the cute **** on defense. Line up and play straight up. We’ve got enough talent -especially on the DL - to dominate opponents offenses.

Guidry pulling his head out of his ***
Dawson actually calling some plays and coaching Cam as opposed to letting him do whatever the **** he wants
Sam Brown making a difficult catch in traffic
Outside runs
Much less stunting
Less bunch sets
Safeties …change everything
No Kiko in coverage

Honestly I was very pro-“Play shell coverage and try to make offenses drive methodically, if we clean up the big plays the defense is fine”…. And then last week happened. Part of me almost thinks just go man heavy, send Kiko through the A gap every single play he’s on the field (literally. Every one.), and just hope either you cause some havoc or they score quick and keep the offense off the bench. I don’t know that we can cover in man or zone.

But seriously. As others have mentioned, just be ******* lined up and not clearly out-leveraged before the ball is even snapped. So many plays where the offense has a clear numbers advantage that anyone can see and you don’t even have to understand football to know the geometry is against us.

We are who we are. Against Wake it wouldn't shock me to see our DL get home a little quicker and help our secondary, but that's a talent gap thing not a schematic tweak.

My biggest "adjustment"/hope is urgency and efficiency. We're playing for pollsters now and if we want a seat at the table this year we need the score to be 45-17 or similar. Come out fast, lead by 21 at the half and get it done.

I would like to see Cam get rid of the ball faster, more blitzs, never ever see another flare out screen to a wideout, and replace BOTH kick and punt returners. Finally, when we have to make a crucial decision lock Mario up in the ATC injury booth. Whether it's calling a TO, deciding to kick a FG, etc. The guy is a menance when it comes to day game coaching.

Defense - Would like to see us sending Kiko in on blitzes more frequently. Bachmeier is not mobile. Blow up the slow mesh. More CB blizes. Rarely see those this year and used to be a staple last year. Flush him from the pocket to his left. Artificially set an edge with a CB if you blitz into their running game.

Offense - more designed plays like we used to see X and Horton do the fake orbit motion and whip back into the flat when they're 1on1. Get creative with in-line TEs faking a block and then leaking out as a safety blanket/check down. McCormick sells it very well. Good 3rd down option. Run a jet sweep or hand off to the orbit motion and then use it as a decoy to make them think and get their eyes in the wrong place. Then use it to leak some guys out in the deep passing game. Can also fake the hand off to the orbit motion and run a delayed handoff or roll the QB out and throw it off of that.

We get killed with eye candy but rarely use it ourselves. We try to beat everyone the hard way. Just straight up man beating a man. Do ourselves some favors.

3 TE sets with Arroyo and Williams on the line of scrimmage and Lofton coming out of the backfield.

Kiko benched for Popo. Reduced snaps for WB, more Alderman, and less Baron more Alston & Bryant. Move Bain inside more often. And hopefully Damari back playing nickel. I'm not expecting way better leverage, angles, and speed to just pop up because we had a bye. But with these changes we might be a bit more respectable and in better position personnel wise.

A healthy Damari Brown
More passes to Carlos Arroyo and Riley Williams
More checkdowns (when available)
More RB/TE Screens
Set the ****** edge on Defense
Exponentially better Safety and LB play
More Ajay Allen and Chris Johnson
