Davis and Somerset offensive coordinator Willie Hill both told the Miami Herald that UM still has its offer on the table for Davis but that they want to let the media firestorm the entire situation has drawn die down before allowing him to commit.
So essentially, Davis was offered by UM, he took UM up on that offer and then UM was unsure it actually did offer and told him the team will not accept his commitment at this time -- but will eventually. So Davis' recruitment is still technically open and he lists Miami as the leader for his services.

Sounds like he's asking the kid to call them to commit? Don't think he could reach out the way he did.
I hope we got worked up over nothing.

A big boy not accepting a commit? FSU does it all the time.
Alright. I was busy yesterday. I'm out here in Orlando with family but I have exactly what went down.
First off. Any reporter who lied or tried to report that Daewood was lying about having an offer. Is full of crap and was trying to get a story and headlines without getting the facts from the horses mouth. Second, that is beyond disrespectful and low class. Anyone who did should be ashamed.
I knew from the moment it came out that it was garbage and people just trying to stir the pot.
He did get an offer and it was back in May. I've known about this kid for months before he got any offers and posted about him on here when Miami extended the offer. I know both him and his coach. Coach Hill. I speak with both of them. Daewood would not lie about this and would not have a need to lie about this.
He is very talented, you can't teach 6'2" 175, legitimate 4.4 speed. Running 10.7 in the 100 meter and 22.8 in the 200 meter during his sophomore year. Check the tape and try to argue with me on that. Scouting sites such as rivals, espn and 247 have already contacted his coaches and let them know within the next update he would at the very least be a 4*. Davis is not your "just another guy" prospect if you understand what I'm saying.
Let me get into the thick of the matter.
The running rumor that I learned of yesterday in the morning. D'onofrio offered Daewood back in May. Apparently D'onofrio never reported back that he offered to Golden and Golden had no idea Daewood was on their board due to that. Golden gets the final say on recruits. <----- I can't confirm this rumor 100%, take that with a grain of salt and the reason why.....
Miami has been actively pursuing him the hardest for some time now. They know exactly who he is and he IS a take, so I have no idea where the... "They won't take his commit from" came from.
He's very well qualified of a take for Miami and is a Miami caliber WR and what you would look for.
Now to get to the real substance....
What happened was the way he committed. Class of 2017 is not allowed to have direct contact with the staff until September 1st. No DMs or Texts, this is why Miami did not respond back when he texted the coaches after he tweeted out that he was committing to Miami. It would have been a violation on top of another 'cause of the way he committed. The only way to commit for class of 17 right now is either on a visit in person or through their own coach at their school. This is why all this drama started.
While everyone was starting lies and slandering the kid. I got it straight from the horses mouth and his camp and people that I know. I was helping Daewood along the way cause Miami was sort of in an area where they can't reach out to him directly. He didn't understand and wasn't told about the way class of 2017 works for contact and commitment right now until September.
Everything is cleared up now. Miami and Somersets coaches got in contact, everything is ok now. Daewood feels as if the blame is on him 'cause he didn't know. It was an honest mistake, he wasn't trying to get anyone in trouble but someone should have communicated this to him before so he would understand.
Make no mistake. Daewood wants to be at Miami, I've spoken to him long before this has happened and after this whole drama. Miami is where he wants to be. Nothing has changed.
Coach Hill is a big Miami fan by the way.
I've welcomed Daewood with open arms just as I am sure others have. I do consider him part of the 2017 class already.
Miami is going to let this die down over the weekend due to media, everything is ok. Nobody is upset. It was a misunderstanding.
I do expect him to come on a visit again very soon and possibly for his commitment to go the right way this time.
So im hella confused..So what is the deal here? What was the potential violation? A recruit that isn't in the 2016 class cannot commit to a school through the media if the school has not been informed first? What the **** happened here?
