Curtis Porter

If Porter doesn't come back we will need one of our current DT's to make near miraculous strides to field an even somewhat competent run defense.

A healthy Porter is our best DT right now. I think Pierre could be better than he is with another year of conditioning and experience. We definitely need him to come back. Our run defense gave up over 100 yards less a game when he came back. Hes a difference maker for us in the run defense.

healthy is what he has never been and honestly i dont expect him to be health next year wherever he is

Yup. He also is our most explosive and disruptive DL on passing downs.

That's true but we have at least signs from guys like McCord and Pierre that they can be competent rushing the passer with another year of development. We have seen no DL besides Porter who have shown any sign whatsoever of being disruptive against the run.

Porter is exactly the kind of player that Coker and Shannon specialized in, guys who did nothing here and then all of a suddenly, out of the woodwerks, he will be an All Pro who wont miss a game in 8 years.

while i understand that Porter is important, I think that Forston was better here.

The fact we are relying on Curtis Porter is scary.

Even if the guy comes back, he is never healthy.

Maybe you think Forston was better because you remember seeing his number on the field but not better because of how each affected the game

I agree with this. While he was in the game against OSU, we were actually taking the fight to them in da trenches. Pound for pound and for your money, you want Porter out there, the kid has talent. But LOL at his even thinking about turning pro, just laughable to think about.

Porter was perfectly healthy until he tore his acl. Then he was perfectly healthy until he broke his finger and it became infected. He also was perfectly healthy before his appendix burst. Three freak "injuries" are the only reason he isn't a projected early round pick in April.

His film for NFL scouts won't even last as long as the rap song he dubs over it.
