How about replacing Gadsden. He was pretty good.
So was the RB.
They were 3-2 away from the dome that has a loss to Stanford and a 4 TD loss to Pitt. Will they be better on the road this year?
How about their D? Are they fixing that?

Your right.
If we do absolutely nothing in the portal and every team on our schedule fills all of their holes, we’ll have a tough go.
Somehow I don’t think that will be the case.

You lost me when you started pleading for people not to consider you a mope. Get off your hind legs son! Also I absolutely disagree with this 3-9 stuff. Where did you come up with that? There is no excuse for this team to finish anywhere close to 3-9. I do agree we need to do a better job developing players.

Agreed. I think with the addition of Beck that we will get a bigtime WR in the spring. I love what we have done in the secondary. Add Lucas and we're cooking! Maybe add another Safety as well. The DC hire is going to be extremely significant and Mario needs to hit it out of the park. Another RB could help tremendously and I think we'll be monitoring the spring portal closely for the right guy.

What bothers me is LB. Bissainthe, Aguirre, Washington, Pruitt, Hayes and true freshman Kevin Wiley are all 4 star talents. Some of them have to start playing/developing. For all that talent there doesn't seem to be that much buzz about any of them. Like I said, the new DC will be extremely important. Similarly, we need our young DL(Scott, Horton, Jones, Blount, Pickett, Lightfoot, Rudolph and McConathy) to start developing. There's plenty of raw talent to work with there!

That probably the biggest thing how will the linebackers and young defensive lineman develop. If a few of them take the next step in development that will take our defense up another level to actually being good. Whomever the DC is they need to make sure they have teachers to maximize that front 7

Assuming a big time receiver is available in Spring TP.

I'm assuming said big time pass catcher is already on a preminent program and just comes to Miami for the bag...

This is what I keep trying to explain to people. We have PLENTY of young, super talented kids on the roster. So many comments about having to rely on younger kids in spots. It’s college football, every team has to rely on kids who didn’t play a ton the year before. But at least some of these kids have to be hits or we’re not winning with this staff.

At backer for example, here are the kids Mario has signed since being the coach who are still on the roster:

Bissainthe
Bryant (probably a full time edge but I don’t know what the new DC will run as far as even or odd fronts)
Popo
Bobby Washington
Hayes
Pruitt
Wiley
Marcellin

That’s 5-6 blue chip players. If you can’t field a competent backer corps with that, then we got the wrong guys in charge. I’m not saying any of these kids need to win the Butkus award, I’m not even saying they have to be the best group in the ACC. But if you’ve recruited that many 4-star kids, at least a couple of them have to be above average players or you’re bad at your job.

DL is the same exact story, expect with even higher ranked talent. And good looking portal additions.

You MUST field and above average defense this season. Must. Teams rarely go from awful to elite in one year, so I’m sure as **** not expecting the 2025 defense to be the 2024 offense. But can it just be the 2023 defense? If we pair the 2024 offense with the 2023 defense, we’re probably playing in one of these games tonight or last night.

Exactly! I actually edited that post to include all the young talented DL who need to start developing. Too many talented kids not to have some of them hit. In terms of going from awful to elite yes that's true but I honestly believe that with the young talent all through the front 7 and what we have added in the secondary that an elite DC could turn this around fairly quickly. An example would be the defense from 2015 to 2016 from Dorito to Diaz the improvement was striking. We'll see.
