i think it should be noted that in situations like this, the story is controlled solely by the player and the people close to him. miami's staff can't publicly comment on the situation, so everything we're hearing on this is one-sided. and anything else is just going to be leaks/rumors.

Not sure what's up....the player usually doesn't admit to being dropped.

Okay so if Denver didn't qualify, would both parties come to an understanding, with this being the manner in which they handled it?

Isn't Denver suppose to announce tomorrow....i thought i saw dat in an article after his U visit.. Could they b building suspense?

If this is a fact it has to be a grade issue.....no way our class is to full for DK. Maybe a way for him to save face if it is a grade issue.

btw I know manny is about as connected as I am but this is from his blog posted @ 7:46 tonight.

Kirkland said he's still down to a top five: "Ole Miss, FSU, USF, UM and Arkansas."

"The recruiting process went good, I really enjoyed it, got to know a lot of people," said Kirkland, whose mother is pushing him to stay in Miami. "I got to see the fans being open with the players and how much they love the players. I had stake on every one of my visits. Biggest one was 16 ounces. The most fun was the house parties, track meets and basketball games.

"I like the Canes a lot. They're academic program is good and the bonds I have with the coaches is good. Michael Barrow was my recruiter. He's a good guy. UM is recruiting me as an offensive tackle just like everyone else."

WTF.....this is the most up and down....he said she said....most confusing recruiting year I've ever seen here and don't give me that newbie ****

Class is full means "grades". There is no way anyone around the program or from his family's side will say it was his grades. Kids grades are usually kept confidential.
I don't know what is going on with Kirkland recruitment. But I know that, although he is an elite player, OL is not a position of great need especially if we have limited scholarships to give.
We have "Gall, Hunter, and the African monster" already on board. Next year we are set to get Darling and KC McDermott.
I know people would be upset if we didn't get him just because he is a 5 star kid and from our backyard. But if there are grades issues then coaches will look at other options.
Just saying.

You don't cool on a can't miss prospect like Kirkland this late in the game out of the blue. You would have backed off on the grades thing a while back. Something significant happened which caused the coaches to walk - I wouldn't even try to speculate as to what it is that caused the split.....

from the canesinsider article:

Kirkland’s stepfather, Shanton Crummie, informed XOFan/CaneInsider of the news earlier tonight. He said the explanation he’s receiving from the Miami coaching staff is that they over signed defensive lineman and therefore Kirkland’s scholarship was used up.

that makes zero sense whatsoever *shrugs*
