Critique Thread

My biggest concern is Cam’s replacement next year. Assuming the success continues, it would be disappointing to build program momentum just to go back to an average QB next year and 6/8 wins

Gotta go for a 2 for 1 portal QB imo. Need to cover 2 years b/c Emory, while decent, is not the guy to get you to 11-12 wins. Nickel won't be ready so need to cover 2025 and 26. JMO

That's why you gotta throw the bank at Lagway this offseason.

-1, 3rd and longs
We can't live here for long
-2, inability to produce a dominant run game
Probably has something to do with the first thing. I'm fine with where are. Just with all the hype it's a let down.
-3, CBs have yet to prove themselves
Shouldn't have busted coverages against FAMU

Run blocking has been underwhelming. I thought maybe UF's run defense was really stout, but we weren't great against FAMU, either.
Sam Brown has been disappointing.
I'm not sure what's going on with QB2. I pray to God we don't need it.
Yep Sam Brown get it together, my man.

He made a good effort tough catch against FAMU (my initial thought was he got the message and had his head on straight), but he’s left a lot to be desired so far.

Fortunately, I think we’re strong at WR—and having Cam makes them look better in the first place—so someone else will get his chances if he doesn’t tighten up.

You think the OL could be better at run blocking and the WRs need to be better at winning contested balls downfield?

Well, I think you’re correct. On both counts, to varying degrees.

OL has not been impressive on inside runs, which is a problem when your HC insists on proving his manhood through the performance of inside runs. No counters, few stretch plays, just big man move big man ball man run over big man first down do again.

Great coaches make winning easier, not harder. Mario has made a lot of things a whole lot easier, but this one area continues to confound me. (Also, I know we were down multiple starters. It shows that we don’t have “8 starters” on the line. Which is fine, few teams do.)

Downfield passing is very difficult without coverage busts or a combo of elite accuracy and high end skill sets at WR. I do not see an elite WR on this team from a traits-that-translate-to-deep-balls perspective, able to win contested catches consistently OR make Cam’s life a bit easier by creating separation downfield. It’s hard to do, and it hasn’t developed — yet. I also don’t think this team needs to blow the top off to be highly efficient, which seems to be more Mario/Dawson’s ethos. Lethal efficiency, not 2-3 play drives. It’s more sustainable, it wins more games (typically).

I’m less concerned about the latter than the former. If I had skill points to spend, I’m spending them all in Run Blocking, atm.

Good thread, OP. Good news is we will still win a ton of games, even with some flaws.

The run game has to be the most disappointing thing so far this season. Expected more dominance. #1 thing we need to work on

My complaint is the WR's other than X are not getting open originally. Either that or ward is holding on to the ball too long but i think its the WR's. Cant keep scramble drilling WR's open vs elite teams with good d lines.

This might be "contrivertial" to say, but this is a high quality post brotha! Keep it up.

I think Dunkin Donuts was wrong to remove ham from their menu. I used to get it with egg and cheese usually on a croissant, but occasionally on an English muffin if Jasmine had the breakfast shift. Now all they have is sausage or bacon and they're nowhere near as good.

I'll have more critiques as I go through my day. Thanks for the thread, OP.
I actually liked the ciabatta chicken sandwich was very decent

This is mine. I had hopes for Jadais but it appears we’d need to be fully healthy with Damari, Diyoni, OJ and Darryl Porter playing to fully reach our potential
I think he’s the weakest link on our team rn

I found it to be significant that during a casual watch I couldn’t help but notice J Richards 25 playing poorly again and again.

To offset that, in a casual watch it seemed like 19 Hill played better than I expected.

Critiques can be good.

Probably just me - but that McRib seems to taste a lot like hamburger with BBQ sauce.

They need to do something - before the next release.

And don't get me started no fat-a**ed women that drive like they walk . . .

I have witnessed, felt, and discussed several positive things the last two weeks which is very deserved. I have seen a lack in things we can improve in which isn't bad but is necessary. I think we all know this canes team is really good and can be special. I am just curious and want to give an opportunity to critique and point out stuff that need improvement its still a long season. I will start this by saying our defense seems to be better than our offense which might be contrivertial, but I think we need to get better at hitting shots down field bc I feel we have missed a lot. Also I think our oline could get better at making some bigger holes for the run. Again I’m not complaining or saying we’re bad just looking for everyone’s thoughts on things that can improve because everything has been super super positive and I want to see us get better.

GO CANES
dont worry about the haters. not a bad thread

agree with you with creating more open holes for the running game.

I think we will see us going deep on better teams upcoming
