Cristobal assesses team progress after Saturday scrimmage

Are you serious? Look at Miami's 2022 offensive production and WR productivity. That is the only thing that needs to change. If Dawson gets it done Mario will be able to snag 4+ WR's that are legit.

Not really serious….other than checking if Lance had a stated why vs the obvious why…

“Outside of recruiting and coaching Olinemen Mario brings nothing to the table. We’re more likely to see WEFENSE play press man coverage than Mario preserving his timeouts.

Also Mario is NOT gonna out coach anybody and his inability to close on good-elite DT/CB prospects lets me know this is gonna be another rinse, watch and repeat of a failed staff.
Last season was the worst football I’ve ever witnessed at Miami. Any opposing team that as much raised the it’s voice at Miami got Canes on all fours ready to get their **** pushed in.

The players quit on Mario and Mario quit on last years team
@SinisterCane... You tripping with that take after one year! The players quit because he took away there club med pass! And, actually made practice hard instead of club med practices Danny miaz implored.

Nah, Mario gets a ton of blame and rightfully so. It’s what people blame him for that’s so backwards and creates friction.

QB recruiting? Yup. ******** up the first round of staff hires? Absolutely. Micromanaging and being overly meticulous in the hiring process? Sure.

The roster being a disaster? Lol stop playing, that’s all Manny’s fault and anyone that thinks it can be fixed in 1 recruiting class…seek help.

1 & 1/2 recruiting classes and 4 portal windows 😎

(There are 2 sides to flipping the roster, 1 is people leaving, the other is replacing them with better players….part 2 is in process…. Loading…Loading…Loading…)

I’m gonna let you in on a secret: if you talk to support staff, they think Miami is getting most everyone.

They think he can challenge to start at Z.
We needed wr last year we barely addressed it. We still need wr and we continuously miss to the point we’re hoping for a d2 wr. Insanely frustrating and underwhelming.

I agree with most of your post! But, you gave all of our issues then said if we stay injury free we could win 9 games. So that means you like our starters just not the backups correct? Since your post is about depth?
Yes, they’ve leveled up talented on the starters in every spot but LB. I’d say WR is better overall at this moment.

Scheme is far better on both sides. I didn’t like Steele for Miami and the first time I watched Gattis’ offense my reply was “he needs a passing game coordinator because his concepts are no bueno.”

Do you think Cristobal is facing a much tougher task with UMs roster than Norvell did with FSU’s? If so, then do you believe that UM fans should passively accept another two sub .500 seasons and not expect a 10 win season until year 4?
Q1 - Roster? Comparable, at the least. The year 1 result for each are eerily similar - down to the point differential in our game.

Q2 - God no. And, if the trajectories were identical, it’d be one more (not 2) sub-500 season and 10 wins in year 3, not 4. I just thought it was particularly funny/galling/nauseating to see such acute norvell apology.

The difference is simple:

Manny: hated

Mario: loved

Many hated the Manny hire, not only because he was inexperienced and would likely suck, but more so because it took the job from Butch or Mario… and here we are…. They got their guy and now changed the rules…
Butch didn't want the job in 2018...

Man it's crazy how we are in this situation at WR. Colbie young came here as a low ranked juco 3 star and ended becoming by far our best outside WR by midseason. How did things get this bad while Mario was here? Do they just not believe WRs can be successful here? It's really the same thing at CB as well, Miami used to be a skill players paradise and now we're getting rejected left and right. What do we got to do to fix it?

Ok, I got chu! I was blinded by the broyles award and Michigan 50/50 run/pass and kicked taints teeth in plus a playoff appearance.

Pretty clearly we need to show we can throw the ball, develop a WR, get him drafted highly.

Mario gets negative recruited big time due to a history of being conservative on offense that doesn’t produce NFL WR’s.

Not sure the pitch you could give a Jeremiah Smith to persuade him to come to Miami over the 1st round WR factory in Ohio State.

Our WR & CB woes happened wayyy before Mario...Wtf are you even talking about??

Fair enough RVA. I think everyone acknowledges Mario f-ed up by taking too long to find his coordinators and staff, which despite being national brand names, then went on to light a dumpster fire that dramatically underperformed our worst expectations. Mario then took too long to replace those coordinators when it was clear he was planning to do so. which hurt our ability to bring in some of the early WRs and others hitting the portal, maybe even to land another couple class of 2023 guys.

But you also have to concede that he did make the tough staff changes needed. And the guys he brought in seem to be much better fits to what we all want. I'm personally a bigtime Guidry fan, A hire IMHO. Dawson I don't know. I can't see him delivering the F grade performance we got out of Gattis or the D grade we got out of Enos. But can't tell if he's a and A, B or C grade just yet.

You also have to concede the roster is better than it was a year ago. The guys we lost to the portal, graduation or the NFL are not as good as the new guys we've brought in. The 2022 class seems to be converting better than previous recruiting classes. And the 2023 early matriculation guys that are on campus are already impressing, and the guys that come in the Fall should contribute even more.

So it's a rebuild that's in process. Maybe not as fast as we all expect given Mario's $8M+ annual salary and the improved investments across the program. But it is definitely happening.

Personally, I think Mario can find enough additional talent in the portal to get us to above 8 wins in 2023. But they're not on roster today, and until they are, better to tamper expectations.
Miami agreed to give Mario everything he asked before he even departed for Miami. Having a **** *** staph in year one is a cotdamm ******* disgrace and Mario actually quit on last years team despite making more money than Manny and Folden combined.

But I guess I get it, you got to give Mario time to beat Duke who was even worst off than Miami during Mannys last year, flipped their roster and curb stomped Mario’s physicality out of existence

If the players quit, it was because we hired a terrible fit at offensive coordinator who got our starting quarterback hurt, destroyed the back up’s confidence and threw a true freshman to the wolves who was not ready.

We didn’t quit until near the end when everyone knew we were completely and utterly unable to score points. It was hopeless.

Clemson we were outclassed. aTm, UNC, Duke, MTSU we lost because of catastrophic mistakes. By FSU and Pitt, we were all out of ***** to give.

I have a feeling we hit on the coordinators personality and chemistry wise. If I am right. I think people will be surprised how quickly we can turn this thing around despite our flaws.
