MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

The money for the brands will be new revenue, the ****** programs won't take less.

And the GOR isn't up in 2030 or '31. That makes no sense. They are better off going to trial.
You're making that up ... so far the only thing that ESPN has done is OPTED IN on the existing media agreement for the option period of 9 additional years ... at the very same financial payout as in the original agreement ... there is no"new revenue". Any modification of DISTRIBUTION METHOD to the programs, including "brand payout" and "success payment" all amount to a "re-distribution" of the base amount received.

Doubtful. They are looking for new revenue streams. They announced new sponsorships but I doubt that will be meaningful enough. We will see.

This can be accomplished and I agree this is the general idea. How? Promise ESPN more high revenue games- Clemson-ND, Miami=ND, FSU-ND, NC-ND (event though I'm not seeing this as a great matchup, they are considered a brand name and at least if Billy B is the coach people will tune in). Maybe add a ninth conference game as well, or some sort of ACC-$EC challenge in football.
I don't think any of us know exactly how this happens, but agreeing to alter the schedule and probably let ESPN schedule some of these games could garner enough to maintain current payments but add 10-20 Million each for the top brand programs.

The networks CONTROL realignment ... period. Nobody had an "opportunity" in 2023, and if ESPN is "ready" for program movement prior to 2030 ... they will make it happen and UM will be part of it ... with some schools headed to the SEC and a couple (likely Miami and one other) to the B10.

How nobody have an opportunity yet we were stone cold locks for at least 3 new conferences here from CanesGenetics before they started moonwalking?

ESPN wants very much to schedule more high revenue games ... they are drooling over the prospect of MARKETING "Bellichek vs Kirby" and "Bellichek vs Sarkasian". They would absolutely love to have UNC in the SEC ... tomorrow.

The judges in BOTH cases are retiring. This is a nothing BURGER… it will get delayed. The lawsuit is DEAD.

We lost OUR opportunity window in 2023. Now our FANBASD will be ****ed trying to understand why we’re still permanently mid tier in 2030s. Well we sat on our ASSES when we had the opportunity. We won’t have the $$$ to COMPETE. Instead we’re twiddling our thumbs till 2031 EARLIEST. Our admin is so stupid

Lol ESPN, I can only laugh at this silliness. UNC averaged 330,000 views a game last season. 3rd lowest in the ACC. When they are good they usually top out about 700K viewers. ESPN views a 73 year old(April), never coached college Belichick as Deion? Throw in basketball, no one wants UNC for viewership. Why is this lie being pushed? It would make you believe the real viewership guy, B1G commissioner Petitti, really doesn't have any interest in UNC. That rumor is out there. Petitti is taking NCST with bad UNC views? Regardless, Miami, FSU, Clemson and UNC will be buying their way out after the 29 season. The ACC is already in contact about replacements. It never ends.
I was thinking everyone noticed UNC is not 1 of the 3 ACC teams playing ND twice each year now so they give ND views, but also help those 3 ACC teams win the ACC viewership title(money) each year. One would believe, it's because UNC doesn't produce views.

It's true that networks control realignment. Sadly, it's because the conferences (B1G and SEC) have allowed them to control it.

My question would be - if the ACC has any brands strong enough that they would ADD to the TV payout per school in the B1G, why would ESPN allow those schools to go to their primary competitor (Fox/B1G)?

Why does FSU get more ACC bucks now? They have losing season 5 out of last 7 seasons. Dog**** trash program

Because they SUED. No one would’ve thought to FEED FSU if they didn’t make their case in the public court. Now the ACC and FSU both have to save face with their BASE to settle this case. This was the closest COMPROMISE. FSU lost $3 million to just o gain MILLIONS more

If Miami had sued, the compromise would’ve been on OUR TERMS. It’s so friggin OBVIOUS I’m amazed how some of you just don’t get it. Some of you let your FSU HATE cloud your opinion. Our fanbase looks like BOOTLICKERS just to own the NOLES

Granted they are competitors, but they are also "working together" to a degree now more than ever before. They are discussing regular cross conference game scheduling (to draw eyeballs), so "horse trading" is definitely feasible.
