lol if we dont land a QB, guess what next year looks like. the fins haven't wont a playoff game since 2000. **** out of here w this.
Textbook reply from exactly the type of fan i'm talkin about. Our roster or our QB situation isn't close to being set for next year no point in playing the "if" game.. nobody knew Cam Ward would be our QB we were busy complaining about not having one (like we're doing now), when we know ill take that discussion seriously. I think the floor of the program has been raised overall & we don't need a Cam Ward level QB to be successful every year...& ok so because Dolphins haven't won a playoff game since 2000 im jus supposed to dismiss anything postive? We made the playoffs n had to play KC in **** near sub zero weather all I saw was fans predicting us to lose so they could blame Tua like whats the point of calling myself a fan if i'm borderline rooting/expecting my team to lose & rooting against my QB. IDK about you but I actually root for teams i'm a fan of & when they suck *** i'll admit it.

lol I love fans who dont donate a single dime to the school or have season tickets tell other fans how to fan. **** off.

you can be realistic about being a fan. nothing wrong with that.

I ain't tellin u to how do **** homie be a fan however feel like being one but imma call it how I see it if you don't like oh well "life goes on" 🤷‍♂️

everyone gave you valid arguments, youre just moving goal posts to defend your butt buddy
No actually they didn't lol.
I haven't moved goal posts at all lol. Without ICs being a factor, I have always thought the more the merrier basically - as long as you are quickly able to process the guys that aren't meeting the standard out within 1.5 years or so. Yall just don't like different roster building strategies that don't agree with the completely made up threshold of like 40% hit rate lol.

I view it the same as the draft. Yeah you'd love the highest hit rate possible. But you know in general what helps the most for a GM trying to build out a roster? Just purely having MORE picks. Obviously you can't waste them all. But the more swings at the bat, the more likely you are to hit. At the end of the day evaluating players is difficult and there are countless non playing ability factors including injury that can reduce your hit rate.

And at the end of the day a 105 player CFB roster has the same 22 starting and similar rotational ~23 spots as an NFL 53 man roster. So when some of the best NFL teams entire draft strategy starts with them wanting 12+ draft picks yearly with the goal of getting 3-4 quality players, well applying that to CFB roster building at double the roster size would be wanting 25+ HS Signees to get 6-8 quality players yearly. The main difference in these strategies is in the NFL you can keep the player past their 4-5 year rookie contract. But it they couldn't do that, teams would shift to just drafting even more players yearly... They wouldn't just keep trying to bring in 12 picks yearly but get 6 "hits" out of them... Plus then for CFB you can add in the portal where I absolutely agree you SHOULD expect a far higher hit rate ideally closer to 90% or maybe at least above 75% because you should be far more selective and confident in the ability of most of the portal additions, because aside from maybe like a QB you are bringing in for the future, all the portal additions should be immediate contributors....

If you told me we could have a 40% hit rate and only bring in 20 HS recruits per year or we could have a 30% hit rate and bring in 30 HS recruits per year, I'm choosing the later 100/100 times. IDGAF about just the "hit rate" if you completely leave out the context.

I’ve been very consistent, no elite recruiter will bat 1.000 w/ HS or portal players, but just like baseball, u want to bat around 33%. Look at it like this:

-Class of 2022 5/15 (HS)
-Class of 2023 9/26 (HS)
-Class of 2024 9/28 (HS)

By the time 2025 rolls around, we’ll 23 certified ballers leading the way on the roster, & u supplement that with high quality portal players. That’s all I’m saying; being around 29% or lower really makes a huge difference.
Good discussion. Our hit rate was too low on HS recruits in '22 & '23 - '23 more impactful because of the size of the class. I don't include the kickers - I know they're people too - so I have 25 and 26 as the denominator in '23 & '24.

Another issue from those first two classes is that there are 3-5 guys (N. Kelly/I. Horton/C. Young/R. Williams/K. Spencer) who I think you can make a good argument are "hits" that transferred out or are in the process of transferring out. I only saw parts of the VTech-Syracuse game after our game, so I may be off calling Spencer a hit. There may be more to add to this list after the bowl game/spring practice.

The early returns on the '24 class are very promising, IMO. I think there are far fewer reaches in the '25 class than in prior classes Mario signed too. There are also a some guys from the '23 class, that if they're still around after spring practice have the potential to go from "misses"/TBD to "hits" - I include S. Okunlola/Ray Ray/D. Brown/J. Horton/T. Kinsler/B. Washington in that group.

TL;DR: HS hit rate way too low first 2 classes; I think we've adjusted as '24 very promising and I'm optimistic about the '25 class.

So far this is untrue under the current staff. All this raising the floor bull**** is lowering expectations. Also you should be rooting for the Dolphins to lose - they suck and need the best draft position possible.

Also - @Cribby and @*****-Wan Kanobi - **** the Eagles -- because it is Christmas and I know Eagles fans like that type of thing.
