I’m really hoping the players see the disrespect of these last couple of weeks. The psychology aspect of football is often overlooked but finally losing after weeks of being “just good enough” can bring the best in people when their backs are against the wall.
Getting disrespected and winning can be shrugged off easily but to take a L to such an inferior team can be a massive wake up call. (Before yall say, “oh well maybe close games against so and so should’ve been the wake up call”, barely winning is sometimes worse than losing because of that “oh we will climb out of this” mindset and now that’s GONE, we proved ourselves we are beatable and that’s very important for good teams experiencing newfound success)
Truthfully I think we come out sharp and I think Guidry cleans up our issues. We now see the offense will not always be able to bail us out while he figures it out and if this Bye week was put to good you he took a long look in the mirror about his philosophy and play calling.
The possibility of adding Alston/Brown can not be understated. Alston is a dynamic veteran who has been very very good for us especially with running QBs, Brown immediately becomes one of the most physical DBs we can put out there.
I know we have a history of collapsing after losses but right now we have EVERYTHING ahead of us. Our season is not over and the players know it. If Cam is the leader we think he is then we will come out Saturday and treat Wake like Bama treated Mercer.
I have a feeling we do just that.
