Allegedly Bill Clark said no for same reason as Napier

Lol he just text me that... wow it may be Steele after all.... that was his first prediction before the interviews started happening

Auburn has 2 high level recruiters on that staff in Kodi Burns & Wesley McGriff who I would take here in a heartbeat.

Kodi Burns is a WR’s coach, so obviously we wouldn’t go get him with Likens already on staff, but he’s another young Arkansas recruiter that Malzahn has brought up from the ranks, he worked with Lashlee at Ark St & early on during his AU stint as well, he can recruit his *** off.

McGriff would be a Home-run hire bringing him back to Miami, I doubt Diaz would even interview him, but he & T-Rob would lock down South FL DB recruiting something scary like we haven’t seen in decades.

Their D-Line coach Garner would be a solid pick up if something were to happen with Stroud in the offseason. He's been at Aubrun for about 8 years now and before that was at UGA for 15+ coaching Dline.

From the Auburn board:

Bill Clark is keeping his name in the search, but he has given Auburn 24 hours to let him know if he will be able to hire his own staff. If Auburn rejects that or doesn’t get back with him by tomorrow night, he will withdraw his name.

Supposedly candidates are being told they have to keep Kevin Steele Kodi Burns, Cadillac Williams and Rodney Garner

Sark never failed as a HC. He built up Washington and was winning at SC. I'd love for him to be at Miami. Dude was/is an alcoholic but has won where hes coached
When I had orientation at UM law, they brought in an addiction specialist to talk about the high rates of drug and alcohol addiction in lawyers. He started telling his story about being a high flying corporate attorney in Boston in the 80s and how the stresses and hours of the job led him to a massive coke habit. And then he said he went to rehab in Miami, in the 80s, for a coke addiction. Sark as Miami’s football coach reminds me of that story.

Many fans on their board are very angry - they believe these unreasonable staff retention demands are specifically there to weed out anyone but Kevin Steele. This way they can say they interviewed and end up with the guy they wanted in the first place.
They don’t wanna lose any ground in recruiting, so they’re trying to keep their Aces on staff in guys like Kodi Burns & Cadillac Williams, but no new HC would ever agree to those terms.

They’ve backed themselves into a corner by doing that, no one but Steele can have the job if they’re not gonna allow these other candidates the ability to hire their own staff.

What an asinine decision on their part.

I’m envious of Auburn being in a position to hire Clark but it’s funny that they’re going down a stupid path. It’s like something we’d do.

The bad part is that if they don’t hire Clark, and someone like Mullet leaves UiF, there’s a good candidate there. Not sure Mullet’s leaving or that they’d hire Clark.

He was a falling down drunk with a lower winning percentage as a HC than Manny, didn’t win a single thing in 7 years, but otherwise a great success at his two P5 jobs.

Seriously, where do you guys come up with this shlt?

If you don’t pass the Manny bar, it’s a non starter.
