I'm not sure what he needs to do in order to get a HC offer.

Was the director of football operations at Bama, has been an elite position coach and DC for multiple years, young and energetic with love for recruiting...

What's the problem here?

Remember he is working for someone who waited a long time before he took a job. Kirby had a bunch of chances to be a HC and waited and waited until the job he wanted opened. I could see that being what is going on right now with Schumann.

I mean...

I get it if you're UNC... How do you tell the greatest NFL HC of all time "No"? How they even got to Belicheck is a mystery to me. As great of a coach as he is I feel like I can already see how this will end and I doubt it works very well. Sure, he'll scheme it up well, coach them up, and have great game plans... and probably have a nice staff. Recruiting? TBD. Maybe it recruits itself because who it is.

But...you pass on Schumann, who maybe isn't exactly the next Dan Lanning but probably something close??? Why? He would have had UNC in the top 4 of the ACC on an annual basis. Recruiting, scheme, development, etc. He literally is the closest thing to the formula everyone else in CFB wants to duplicate.

For as bad as Miami has been for the ACC, I feel like UNC lets them down more in football than we do. They have everything in their favor in the conference. The ACC would take their hand and walk them into wins if they were good. They literally want their Tobacco Road teams to be the face of the conference. But they keep hiring a bunch of retreads 5 years removed from coaching that are 10-15 years past their prime. Butch Davis, Mack Brown, now Bill Belicheck. That program could actually be good and they keep going this direction. It will look promising for 2-3 years and then fall off the face of the earth like it happens every time for them.

Good move by WVU.
Would Shannon Dawson be interested in the JaxState job or he is shooting for a bigger program?
They paid Rich Rod $1M. Doubt that's pulling Dawson from here.

I think it only gets harder to lure P4 coordinators to HC jobs at small schools because its impossible to recruit and maintain good players. Hearing rumors of good G6 HCs looking to jump to P4 Coordinator jobs will happen more frequently than the other way around in years to come.
