Class Impact: Leonard Taylor to Miami

These are the very things I've been complaining were missing with Stroud coaching the DL. I don't want to dump on Stroud - guy has health issues, recruits well and seems like a decent guy, but for anyone paying attention, ever since Jess left, our DL simply doesn't play with all of the things you mentioned.

Our overall talent at DE takes a step back from this year. But, with Jess's coaching, the DT position will take a major step forward and the next result will be the most dominant DL since he left in 2018 and potentially the best since 2003. Also, the DE's may not have J-Phil's natural talent, but I do expect them to play with better technique, leverage, etc.

Make no mistake, we will have dominant DT play across the board 4 deep for the 1st time in a long long time. And, if ever Nesta had an opportunity to take that last step into the elite status and Ford into draftability, it's this year under Simpson.
the guy i'm really excited about with simpson is JHH. he could be a monster

Watched some All-22 of our 2018 season and the DL was so much better than what we saw this year.

My initial reaction was sort of mixed when Simpson came back, but I'm convinced he's not just an upgrade over what we had at that spot, he's a massive upgrade.

I do think our players looked lost out there sometimes this year. But was it Stroud or our HC and DC driving the bad behavior with their mandate to "get to the ball carrier at all costs"? And as much as I like Simpson, he was only our coach from March 2018 to the end of that season. I'm not sure he was responsible for the quality of DL play so much as Kuligowski.

My point is, we're hoping Simpson is the difference maker when the changes in quality of play could have been driven by other factors outside of Stroud's control. I think we'll need to see how it plays out before being too excited. The best we can say for now is that performance most likely won't be any worse.

No idea where it originally started. Regardless, huge to have him in early, he's going to have a monster freshman season especially getting coached up by Jess now
I just noticed I put was , it should’ve been wasn’t. I was referring to somebody saying it was official he wasn’t in. I was saying it wasn’t official , still isn’t.

Thoughts on the Sheldon Richardson comp?
I get it to certain extent, my comp for Taylor is Javon Kinlaw based on his Basketball player like wingspan, quick nimble feet & his ability to use swim technique to shed blocks & leverage against interior OL’s, for a kid his size he has very good footwork as a pass rusher & has the versatility to play both 3-tech, 5-tech or even as a Strong side DE.

He’s gotten bigger in his upper body & is filling out more, but once he gets into the full S&C program he will thrive, plus under Coach Jess tutelage he’ll learn Rip technique & the proprer way to get upfield vertically like how we want our DT’s to do but will use that wide wingspan to set OL’s up for inside moves while collapsing the pocket.

Richardson is a solid comp but idk if he’s as versitle as Sheldon is/was. On the Jets he played 3,5 and even outside backer like our viper spot.

I remember when we were recruiting Sheldon hard back in day...
Same. Crazy to see how much we've fallen when it comes to being able to recruit elite kids nationally. Now we don't even consider a 5-star an option unless he's local.

Wasn't that long ago we were always in the running for the top kids around the country, The Brown brothers, Seantrell Henderson etc... but **** it feels like forever ago
