2025 Christian Garrett 4* DT from Bogart, GA flips to GTech from UGA

most tech alum are nerds that dont care to much about football or enough to blast money towards it...since they have a holier than though ivy league type attitude ....and the rest are UGA fans.

They typically make it interesting when they were abl;e to feed on the second tier local prospts and mix in some fla - bama talent...they usually dont stakc classes though....where i think they would be a problem or could be is if they played that portal smart becauise there will always be kids that wouldnt mind living in atl for a year or so.
Knew a tech alum when I lived in valdosta. Donates to Auburn 😂😂

For one thing, GTech has finally entered the NIL game. Their alums fought it expecting kids to go to Tech for the educational opportunities, which are real, but so is a couple hundred thousand dollars to play college football.
If Tech truly cares, they can be a problem. Tech alumni basically built Atlanta and have the money to prove it.
I agree when this! You’re in Atlanta so you should find athletes if you can evaluate. And overall their recruiting base is great.

Again, the advent of NIL may put Tech on more competitive footing. They don’t have the rabid UGA fan base or the alumni numbers, but the diehards want to win & harken to the days of Bobby Ross and George O’Leary.

Alums aren’t just a bunch of computer geeks. They’re the founders or heads of major Atl real estate development firms, construction and engineering firms, CEOs of Atl-based companies. In other words, they have gobs of money, power & influence (i.e. A Man in Full - novel and Netflix show). Some GT athletes end up working for them.

These cats didn’t get too dirty recruiting (everyone is dirty to varying degrees) . . . the old wing-nut coach they had thought he was smarter than everyone else and lacked the desire and personality to recruit. So with it now being a free-for-all and money being king, GT definitely has the folks to capitalize.

i dont see it. I lived in atl before for a lil stint walking distance from gt and they were an after thought i doubt anything else has changed much.

Currently CLEMSON gets who they want out of metro atlanta and thats even above UGA....so their "base" is owned by clemson and athens off top.
Auburn has more pull in atl off head as well. you can even see a poster above stating what alumni's do in reference to auburn.

They may can scrounger up to throw some funds around for a class, but they will have a hard time stacking classes....and all the big money dudes u speak of cant compete with.....UGA, CLEMSON, AUBURN money or ares if we wanted to play in atl metro...let alone the others like tenn or bama who i didnt even mention.

They have a really good class rigt now and appeared to be doing good instate....RIGHT NOW...but they are one of the teams i have circle to be on ihop pancake flip watch as the szn starts and other big dogs and vultures either miss on their targets or shuffle their boards around.

If i were there alums my NIL money would be for TRANSFER PORTAL for them...thats where i think they could do real work...if admissions is lenient which their admin typically aint according to their snobby fanbase.

Always appreciate your insight as your right more often than not. You offer a few questionable assumptions & statements here, so let’s see how Tech plays the NIL game - both HS recruiting & portal - the next few years.

All accurate but money changes minds. And if they pay, kids will go to GT.

point out the bolded please.

I mean i know Mario done goofed against them last year....but the overplay of ga tech in recruiting is similar to green tree all americans ive heard it enough to know the loch ness monster doesnt exist.

If Mario was to call anyone on their recruit list right now sh*t would be shaaakkky no matter what companies their alumni run.

yes third tier local kids maybe a 2nd tier type and transfer portal kids. I believe that for sure....Its atlanta.

Petty is a supposed five star that they beat out...FSU for?. I rather him go to tech than fsu for the lulz but me thinks the rankings was a lil bit early or premature.

Big time get for them though...

the kid who decommitted from uga i believe the qb ga tech landed was his teammate last year...id like for him to commit to ga tech as well....hes a kid i would try to flip from them let them set their market price on him lol

Totally agree. And second tier and the occasional Petty type kid can cause problems. I’m interested to see how Kevin Roache does at GT. Saw him play in CT. He’s legit 6-8 played receiver at Darian High which has produced some D 1 kids. Listed at 240. The right coach Teir two kids and 3-5 legit recruits… they can at least look solid. And you’re right! Rather Petty go to GT then FSU which was the school recruiting him hard.

roache looks big i wonder if he can grow into a tackle down the road.

If gt can stack classes there is a chance to build momentum issue is they havent stacked classes for years. I dont see it...i can see a good class blanketed by classes in the 40s and 50s.

If mario kneels the ball they would have 7 losses for like 6 or 7 years str8.

I know when i use to frequent their boards their fan base always blamed recruiting on the admin and their tough academics.

Yup I'm wait and see mode here. Just like our team TBH but I think GT loses some games and comes back to earth. Also not sure they hold onto these guys.

Don't want to belabor, but just back in Atlanta and want to clarify. No one is saying the NIL era will suddenly turn Georgia Tech into a championship contender. Not likely. Just the fact that alums have money and influence. In this new age, money is going to talk and some programs may rise up. Case in point: Canes realize they can no longer just recruit off the glory years, but are smartly competing in the money game.
The notion that Clemson somehow gets who they want, even above Georgia, is silly and outdated. There was some credence back in the Mark Richt era when Clemson pulled Deshaun Watson Charlie Whitehurst. Trevor Lawrence and the like. Kirby Smart put an end to that.
Fact is, Clemson recruits Florida about as well as it does neighboring Georgia.
If you know HS football in Georgia, only a few top players can be found in walking distance of the GT campus. They're within probably a 70 mile perimeter of Atlanta, then rural outposts and finally south Georgia.
Another false narrative is GT admission standards are dramatically higher and one needs to be a budding rocket scientist or mechanical engineer. Vast majority of athletes are business administration majors. Also gotten creative recently with literature, media and communications as well as history, technology and society majors.
Again, the large power programs like Ohio State, Georgia and Alabama aren't going away, but the NIL era - between HS recruiting and the portal - is unchartered waters and some dormant programs from major conferences may pop up. Obviously, Miami appears ready to breakout, but Georgia Tech and SMU (Dallas location, wealthy alumni, Texas talent and now in a major conference) have potential to be competitive down the road.

1.) They arent us, we have a history of winning mnc and being competitive for years. I think GA Tech has 1 mnc since i was born an i was a toddler then...the rest were probably in leather helmets.. Their alumni base could have money but what does it matter if they wont provide a ton of it to football consistently because they dont have a history of being a champion. I fthey stack 10 win szns then you may see something shake.

2.) I dont think your as deep in the CROOTING Game as i am. Because you must be unaware. Kirby Smart hasnt put an end to ANYTHING. CLemson gets who they want in Metro Atlanta. I suggest you look from class 2023 ( the 2023 class had about 10-11 metro to close area kids in it, 7 in 2024), and work your way up Clemson is mining in metro ga hard as ****. They have moved the resources to there...they are a non factor in south florida for the most part and do a lil work in sw fla from ft myers to tampa.

Miami and SMU arent the same as GA TECH. Not the same alumni bases, history, nothing really. GA TECH should up the NIL for their bball program thats the doormant one that should/could be a factor ( i think they may have). But they cant be considered to be one of the doormant programs to rise when they are second rate within their own city, They have a ceiling of being a tough out though.
Big win for them in week 0...they should ride that momentum in recruiting for as long as they could.

Thanks for sharing your expertise. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

I think Tech’s best case scenario is being a perennial 8-9 win team. They’ll get the occasional good recruit. Maybe 3-5 a year. But not enough to compete with that next upper echelon. Too many hands in the GA pot. It’s not like they are fighting just UGA. FSU is tough south of Macon. Auburn is a hard pull from west/central GA. Clemson and Tennessee are present north of the perimeter. Four schools not named UGA/Bama they have to battle with. There’s a major ceiling that I don’t think NIL can overcome. Maybe they get lucky and fall into an Andrew Luck or CMC like Stanford did but I wouldn’t count it.

Good for Tech, but their second half schedule is BRUTAL
That is a possible 6 game losing streak.

NC, ND, vatech, Miami, ncst and uga
