Chris Peterson to UW

"Petersen won 89 percent of his games (92-12) in his eight seasons as Broncos coach, including five conference titles and two BCS wins."

Cannot believe Washington is the school he finally left for.

Why? This seems like the perfect spot for him. Chris Peterson is a pacific northwest kinda guy. Seattle is like the capitol of the Pacific northwest.

I think both USC and U-Dub made great choices here.

USC chose Sark over Petersen. Both lobbied for the job, but Sark got it.

I really think it's a case of USC boosters chasing the memories of the Carroll era. Petersen is a better coach, but Sark was on the staff during the golden years.

So was Lane Kiffin.

Peterson took a team from Boise Idaho and made them nationally relevant.
Boise Idaho.

Like taking a small private school in South Florida that is thinking of shutting down it's football program and winning a national championship 5 years later.

That guy is a special coach.

It has more to do with the fact that a couple of years ago he was the IT coach that everyone talked about whenever a major BCS job opened up. If Vegas put out odds of likely destinations for him in the event he left Boise, I'd imagine U-dub would be low on the list.

Good job security, more money and reasonable expectations. Remember this guy is now apart of a BCS conference (i.e. better competition) for the first time at 49. Look at Paterson when he went to the Big-12. Not sure all that good work 2 years ago matters now when you constantly get beaten in a better conference.

He gets at least 4 years here and is not in Boise anymore, it is a good city Seattle.

God it'll be funny if Peterson ends up beating Sark's *** with Washington. USCw will really be kicking themselves then, and it would also most definitely lead to Haden's dismissal as AD.

Boise State is a nice job for whoever gets it. Maybe Dirk Koetter will go back after the crappy season the Falcons are having.

They were already relevant when he got promoted to HC. Dan Hawkins was 53-11 his 5 years there. 8-4, 12-1, 13-1, 11-1, 9-4.

Peterson is a good coach but people act like he built the program. He obviously helped, as he was the OC under Hawkins, but they were already a good program when he became the HC.

Forgot about Dirk Koetter too. He was 10-3, 10-2 his final two years at BSU before Hawkins.

Former Boisie Coaches have really flourished when they left the program.......err wait?

Brilliant hire, and UW got the better of that deal. Petersen is one of the top 5 coaches in college football. He's turned down a million jobs over the years, so he must have been biding his time waiting for the USC or UW gig.

Nice hire by Washington I always though Petersen and TCU's Gary Patterson deserved top notch jobs. Look out for Patterson to be in consideration for the Texas job if it opens

Many have come calling for both of them. They have both turned down some big offers.

To those calling Seven Win Sark a good coach have you guys watched Washington? He did a good job of rebuilding (inherited a first round QB) but once he got the talent he didn't do anything with it. They've been at about the same level the past few years and a good majority of Husky fans wanted him gone.

How many BCS bowl games did Boise go to before Peterson?
Zero.
Peterson is 2-0 in BCS Bowl games.
That game against Oklahoma was one of the most exciting games I've ever seen, particularly when you knew that there wasn't a single player on the Boise team that was offered scholarships by any big time football school.

At Boise state Peterson has the highest winning percentage of any fbs coach.
Nick Saban at Bama is 74-14 Peterson at Boise state is 92-12.

92-12!

With players nobody wanted.

Also just read that Boise State, under Peterson, is the only school in history to win 50 games in a 4 year span.
They went 50-3 with Kellen Moore.

**** can flat out coach.

Nice pick up for UW. The Pac12 coaches will be ****ting bricks. Peterson should have a field day with the upgrade in talent he will attract at UW.

Who said he couldn't coach? I said he was good but he didn't build the program. Comparing Peterson's record to Saban's and saying no one wanted BSU's players is silly.
