Petersen loves him some pacnw. The depressing city in the world though?

Nice hire by Washington I always though Petersen and TCU's Gary Patterson deserved top notch jobs. Look out for Patterson to be in consideration for the Texas job if it opens

Uscw took sark instead of Peterson?? Lol

Uscw fans must be kicking themselves

Seems like Peterson chose Washington over USC as he pulled his name out the USC search.

How'd he do that if the WA job wasn't open till the USCw job was filled?
Not trying to be jerk. Just curious whether WA knew Sark was gone for days and contacted Peterson to let him know.
Which would mean Peterson knew he didn't get USC gig before removing his name?

My guess would be Petersen chose Boise/Pac NW over USC....only to getting lucky days later when USC hired Sark opening up a PAC NW job willing to pay him similar money to the job in LA.

USC chose Sark over Petersen. Both lobbied for the job, but Sark got it.

I really think it's a case of USC boosters chasing the memories of the Carroll era. Petersen is a better coach, but Sark was on the staff during the golden years.

I am sure the USC job pays more but is much more demanding. If the new coach does not produce results in 2 years at USC, they will be sent packing (i.e. more pressure). At UW, he is safe for awhile IMO.

Very good hire for UW.

Wow. Petersen turned down so many elite jobs over so many years, and he ends up at Washington of all places? Crazy crazy world.

But I have to say, good for them. Washington being good will remind me of the old days. And we were good in the old days.

From the espn article:

"Petersen pursued the USC job and met with athletic director Pat Haden in Boise on Sunday morning. But Haden decided to hire Washington coach Steve Sarkisian, which set in motion Petersen's move to Seattle."

So it sounds like USC chose Sark over Petersen. It will be fun to monitor the progress of both programs over the next few years.
