Chris Nee on Howard

This happens every year doesn't it? High profile, uncommitted recruit visits the weekend before signing day - rumors swirl that he loved his visit and will now decide between us and the school he has been long rumored leaning towards - stories and "sources" come flying out of the woodwork - signing day comes and he signs with the school everyone knew he would sign with before his visit to the U. At least thats what has been happening in recent years.

Lets hope Howard bucks the trend, but I've seen this show before and the ending sucks.

my gut tells me we are getting trolled

my heart wants to believe all this, either way lots can change over 2 days

If Golden pulls Howard and/or Hamilton, I will forever believe.

But until that happens...nope.

At this point, I don't think we're getting trolled.

I think we're legitimately in it. Obviously there's no way to prove that if he picks the Gators, but this would be one of the most epic troll jobs ever if he was playing us the whole time.

Either it is a troll job of the century

Or Golden is about to pull off the recruiting coup of the past 10 years.

Fugg it, I'm all in

forgive my ignorance but why would this be considered a coup? the kid is in our backyard at a position that is very thin to put it nicely. I am not trying to take anything away from our staff (if howard is to come to miami) and sometimes kids just want to leave for that college town experience, but **** we should get this kid

Because for the entire recruiting season, he has been claiming that he wanted out of Miami. And every top school wants the kid so he can go whereever he wants. Not even to mention our irrelevance for nearly a decade and the pending sanctions.

I would love to have this kid, but ultimately it's the ability to coach them up and their willingness to buy into the system. I don't know Howard in the least and from what I read he seems like a good kid, but every year at every position, high school kids are over-hyped and never pan out (i.e., Willie Williams/Arthur Brown though he looked better in 11.) Regardless, I like the kids we have and believe that our staff will coach them up, Howard will just be icing on a very nice cake. Plus, these new kids are reviving the concept of family at the U and if these last few uncommitted recruits don't want to be part of the new family at the U, then so long.

Those kids may never seem to pan out cause we haven't exactly had the best "Coaching" to help them out.

comparing UiF and Miami right now from a football standpoint, there is not a whole lot of seperation. you could argue that Miami is in a little bit better of a spot since we have a HC with actual experience who has proven that he can establish a program and develop players. Muschump is reallly a complete unknown right now.

the only thing football wise that hurts us is the sanctions, but I believe that kids like Howard would be allowed out of their schollys if we got severe sanctions.

so really if it is a football decision, he's gotta be thinking Miami.

only way he goes to UF is if he really really likes the college town feel so much that he just has to get out of Miami

I don't think we are getting trolled, I think if he had to pick Sunday he would have picked Miami, but since he has to wait until Wednesday taht could change again. My guess is UF. I think he liked it here better (location, family, teammates, ect), but UF is currently the safer pick for him as a player (no looming sanctions, db coach, sec, etc).

hope im wrong

Take this as a FWIW more than anything at this time but I was told tonight that Florida side feels Howard is going to pick Miami or is getting that vibe. Pretty stunning if this turns out to be true with how Miami wasn't even close to being in the picture three weeks ago. Again, I would take it as a FYI more than anything. I will continue to check on this, but I wanted to pass this along because I have had more than one credible person tell me this tonight.

Corey Lemonier and Sammy Watkins say 'sup.

I don't buy it.

Neither do I.

Well let's not forget that before the visit, Tracy Howard publicly professed LOVE for Gainesville and the atmosphere there. I also remember when it was a guarantee from every recruiting afficionado that he wanted out of Miami. Once the high of the visit wears off, this kid is going to end up going where he wanted to go all along. Florida.

I'd like to be wrong but I refuse to dismiss facts. I just don't see any realistic reason as to why this kid is going to sign a LOI to us. One weekend and a week or two where this kid put us into his top 3 (because we weren't in it before) isn't going to change months of Tracy Howard led speculation. It was him that was quoted in articles and videos as saying that he was looking to get out of Miami. I even remember when he made a Facebook post or something saying it's going to be nice to visit Miami every summer.

This is the optimism that led you to prefer Tyrus Thomas over Lamarcus Aldridge. You are too hopeful of a guy, sir.

Are retro-cross-board neg reps possible? :drevil:
