Chris Johnson should not be our KR

No. Kickoff returner should be Robby Johnson. He is the most gifted and natural return specialist on the team. Coaches must not trust his hands. Only explanation for not having him returning either kickoffs or punts.
I disagree. CJ has improved immensely.
His problem is his vision. He can not set defenders up and then go to 5th gear.

CJ24 is the epitome of a guy that has the physical tools, but doesn't have a feel for the game. It's frustrating, because we all wish that he could figure it out, but he doesn't have certain traits. He lacks vision, misses holes on KR, and lacks the balance needed to break the first tackle. There's a good chance someone like Lyle is a better option, due to his ability to see the holes and quick feet.

he's the epitome of "i can outrun everyone in highschool without any other responsibility"

Yeah Top 10 in average yards per return is not what we need! Better to be in the 40s or something, right…

Def starts the offense back 5 yards further on most returns if not a flag pushing them even further back lol. Just need to probably fair catch them

He is very fast in a straight line, but is not shifty enough to be a great returner.

Robby is not quite as fast, but he’s still a burner and possesses great wiggle and lateral movement without losing speed in the open field. Go back and look at their high school film. Robby is a natural return man. It just comes naturally to him.

I don’t think KR is a concern but could be better I think. There are a lot of returns from Johnson where I’m thinking oooh this has a shot at big yards. Only to end up tackled at the 20.

Same thing happened to Berrios. Reliable (no fumbles) and something like top 15-ish average return yards, and everyone thought he sucked. Unless you have 8 TD returns you’re garbage.

We build ‘em up (Greentree All-American) to tear them down.

P.S. I’m not saying there’s no room for improvement, wish he’d hit it harder sometimes to use that speed. He can get better and do more damage. But he’s holding his own relative to the field.

#1 He's tied for 15th in the country

#2 He averages 25.5 per return with a long of 40. We pick up a whole 1/2 a yd vs just fair catching it.
