He can easily get to 285 and be a gap shooting DT. He's quick and explosive for a DT, but he's neither as a DE.
YOU CHANGE HIS LAST NAME AND TAKE AWAY HIS RECRUITING STARS AND NO ONE WOULD KNOW WHO HE IS
LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE BELOW AVERAGE PLAYERS AS FAVORITES
The biggest problem with Chick (and Shayon Green, for that matter) is that we ask him to do too much. Chick played almost twice as many snaps as Clowney did last year.

Uh. No. That's just ridiculous. Dude put on weight and lost agility. More weight would make him even slower and stiffer.
Chick would be a JAG inside.
Chick was plenty explosive as a true freshman. He needs to lose weight and stay at around 245 to be effective. He's most naturally a true de or an olb/de hybrid.
D$ that is because our DL is trash and #71 has been surrounded by trash since he stepped on campus.
Chick is better than most give him credit for. His expectations were very high after a good freshman campaign

Oh, I understand why he played too much. Just saying that's one of the biggest reasons he had so many average-looking snaps.
Cut his reps in half and surround him with more talent, and you will see more impact plays.

Lulz at the sophistry and new mantra regarding Chick. He didn't lose agility by getting stronger and gaining 10 pounds. He lost the help he had on the DL when all those idiots bolted early and the seniors graduated.
Bigger. Stronger. Less productive. Yeah. That's the normal course. The "Chick got too big" puppets act like the guy packed on 50 pounds of bad weight overnight and was trudging around with a giant gut hanging over his pants. He didn't even gain all that much weight. He did, however, lose any help he had from the prior season and is only 2 years removed from HS being axed to anchor the DL.
Chick needs to add some lower body weight and strength to be a DT.

Baloney. His lack of help this year is certainly one of the reasons why his numbers weren't as good as last but doesn't explain why Chick had zero get off this year compared to last that he did his freshman campaign. That has nothing to do with him being helped on the DL. It has everything to do with the added weight. Some people handle extra weight better than others and it clearly hurt Chick's first step and overall quickness.
Chick being a DT is utterly ridiculous. He's not built for interior DL.

This post is money. Dude is not built in the legs and hip area for the interior.
He's much better off losing weight and staying at end in a base 4-3 or olb in a 3-4.
people forget that he dominated the UA All American game and won MVP honors as an explosive DE causing havoc in the backfield
