I think The mentors are far more of the issue, if you are a baller coaches are going to find you regardless whether you are on the internet or not. There are just some shady mentors on the scene in south Florida and are looking to capitalize on certain kids going to other schools outside of the U and the state for that matter

Said it for a long time now, it’s never going to be like it was from a recruiting standpoint. The landscape of college football is completely different.

Every team is on TV every single week. Most kids are willing to leave for what they feel is the right opportunity. The money being spent is beyond crazy.

We aren’t getting everyone, plain is simple. Can’t freak if we don’t get a Surtain. There’s still a ton of talent down here. We just got to grab a big bite of it every year.
 
One guys take on the "downfall" of the State of FL big 3. From my perspective, it was more the coaching carosel @ the U from 2001 to 2015. Inept HC's; Coker, Shannon, Golden- especially Golden - that were asleep at the wheel as far as SFL talent was concerned and let HS relationships deteriorate. These 3 were also lousy recruiters and abhorrent talent evaluators. Same can be said for the gayturds after Spurrier and Meyer left. Bowden was less and less involved in day to day ops - became more of a figure head than a HC - sending his minions to do the dirty work.

While I agree that we don't need to grab up everyone, we need to grab enough quality kids/players from SoFla...something we haven't truly done since the early 2000s, except for this last class. 2017 class is what a UM recruiting class should look like year in and year out. Sure, we missed out on some pieces that we need, but we can remedy that the following class. Issue is that we are not pulling many of the top guys.

All this talk about the landscape has changed and the internet all that means nothing.... adapt to the times or get left behind.

Since this article was written nearly a year and a half ago. Is it cool to change the narrative to Choad Wilson has no clue what he's talking about?

THIS is far more accurate. Let's be honest for a second:

WE HAVE ABSOLUTELY SUCKED ON THE FIELD FOR A VERY LONG TIME!

Bama went through a nice little stretch prior to Saban taking the helm, too. Inept coaches will RUIN a program and the perception of a program.

Miss me w/ the internet reasoning. It's all about what school, what coach, can get me to the promise land of my NFL aspirations; that used to be us. We flooded the NFL w/ 1st round, pro-bowl, HOF talent for 30 years! Beginning w/ Coker, our better days had been behind us. In the interim, other schools saw the opportunity to capitalize. We haven't had a coach worth chit since Butch.

Now we do have that type of coach, and the days of SEC teams just coming through cherry picking is getting slimmer and slimmer. Our downfall has ONLY been inept coaching and a wack President that gave two f's about our football program. It hasn't been the bagmen, it hasn't been the internet, it hasn't been "mentors" ....it's been b/c we sucked. Now we r starting to make noise again. All blue blood programs go through this. USC went through this. Bama went through this. OU went through this. We are already back on the rise and we are getting our fair share of difference makers again.
