Al Golden went back and LEARNED from is entire experience at Miami. He went to the Lions and stepped back as a position coach. He didn't accept the job at ND, they came to him. His record at Detroit must have spoke well to enough people at Domer Central to recommend him to them.

Has Cristobal learned enough from his experiences at Alabama and Oregon? Hard to say. We know he's a great recruiter. But we can't say that he's enough of a good evaluator of talent to build a champion the way they are doing at Ohio State and, perhaps, Notre Dame. And it's hard to say that he's adapted to the NIL environment the way he was able to do to a West Coast recruiting environment at Oregon coming as he did from Alabama. NIL drove Saban into retirement, if you'll recall. Golden appears to have made some sort of adjustment, but I can't say how much recruiting he does at ND.

Golden is not punching above his weight class. That's the key, at least for me. He's comfortable restoring his reputation as a Coordinator.

Cristobal was Saban’s hit man, nothing more nothing less. I haven’t seen anything else from him to show me otherwise.
