The document shown to Sportico was from another Big Ten institution, and was provided by a source under an agreement that the specific school not be publicized. The MOU does not include language that would prohibit an athlete from transferring after signing

am I right in assuming this has got to be one of the worst violations to come to light publicly in a long time?

I mean they supposedly didn't pay Lucas technically through UW athletics (they funneled through the outside collective).. But there's enough collaboration there for NCAA (or whoever) to find pay-for-play being instituted at the conference level

Nice to see Miami isn’t standing by itself and getting hammered by Wisconsin and Big Ten. Instead, many of the top attorneys and law school professors in the field are laying waste to Wisconsin’s actions and flimsy NIL contract. Very encouraging if you understand the influence of those siding with Xavier and Canes.

Question for the CIS lawyers: Since Wisconsin and the Big Ten don't want the template out, and assuming Lucas has a copy, is there anything legally stopping Lucas and Heitner from publishing it on Twitter?

Depends on whether there's a NDA included.

The fact that they don't want the template out however indicates foul play. The template is being roasted as we speak.

Essentially the meat and potatoes of this, is that UW would own his NIL, give him a share (figure provided in the contract) but they’re able to sell those rights to a third party and the player doesn’t see any of that money? Am I reading that right? Also at their discretion, they can raise or lower the original amount (somehow the player is not an employee)? What a round about way of saying it’s performance based…

Sounds like the BIG is planning to royally ***** these kids and probably profit themselves off their NIL.

which is why I seriously doubt they'll escalate any of this out of fear of the specifics coming to light (especially before spring portal window)

Exactly. Treat him like a private contractor but want to own him like an employee...

Depends on the wording of the contract regarding making the document or terms public

i get wanting to play for Oregon/Ohio State/Michigan/Penn State(maybe)
