CB Ethan O’Connor commits to Miami

At this point we are actually a competent QB away from a potentially special season next year. Talent all over the field and sounds like Mario is finally trying to go big time with his DC.
Agree. The way we are attacking the portal means we are trying to make the playoff next year, as we should. Makes me optimistic that somehow, someway the QB problem gets solved in the portal. I don't think we'd stack a portal class like this, if the plan was to roll with a true freshman at QB.

We ain't trying to win 8 games next year. We trying to win the ACC. And make the CFP.

LFG! We still need more, but **** this DB room looks better. We keep edging closer with making good pickups and filling staff. We somehow need some unforseen miracle to happen at QB (just someone capaable) and things would be looking nice.

Now is the time. Go make a last pitch to Mateer before he registers for classes. Take Jorge Mas and his checkbook to the meeting. This is the definition of a blank check scenario given the supply/demand.

They would EASILY make the money back in season ticket sales alone. Next years home schedule includes ND and UF. You bring Mateer into the fold and this fanbase is going to be on fire. Picture a 20 story building on fire with a crop dusting plan dropping nitroglycerin all over it.

Miami added one of the best young ballhawks in America with the commitment of Washington State transfer CB Ethan O’Connor.

The 6’2, 175-pound redshirt freshman totaled 32 tackles, 8 passes deflected and 4 INTs. O’Connor is rated the #2 corner in the Portal by On3.

The Irvine, CA native played 755 snaps and appeared in all 12 games for the Cougars. He has been timed at up to 22 MPH and also brings special teams value (72 snaps). A source said O’Connor’s loose hips will allow him to cover all over the field, and his ability to create turnovers is sorely needed on a defense that ranked 80th in takeaways per game.

O’Connor has three years of eligibility. He joins Charles Brantley and Emmanuel Karnley in Miami’s remade CB room. Miami would also pursue a talent like Xavier Lucas if he were able to enter the Portal.

Wow, HUGE pick up! Between him, Brantley, and already having OJ, our CB room goes from liability to top quality!
