There's risk there for sure. How much, I honestly don't know, why I asked the question.

@TwentySix had the simplest solution to our QB portal search, just get Chandler Morris early on. His mobility is a huge plus that sets him apart from traditional Air Raid QB. Could have picked up one of the highly rated bench warmers from a playoff team as well to build up the QB room. Would have meant forgoing Mateer, but a bird in the hand...

I'm still holding out hope that we can get Hoover to portal out of TCU. He's not a running threat like Morris, but he sure can sling it.

If that's not in play, our best option might just be to get McIvor plus one of the former blue chip guys from a playoff team with 3-4 years left.

Watch the full UF game again and get back to me. It took a Fr from an Ivy League coming in at qb to save them from an upset.

Taking a guy with all his issues and a significant elbow injury ON HIS THROWING ELBOW is beyond crazy. That can’t be the best option and no amount of copium will make me belive it.

Thank god. He wont be drafted until day3..And thats if he even gets drafted, probably will because the nfl care about stars and names as well

Dude is complete garbage and this board is hyping him cause he was a 5 star and they think wins are a qb stat. If he had near the responsibilities that beck had he would **** himself

No. Of course you didn’t.

But, to be fair, he had played a bunch of nobodies. Beck has faced defenses and athletes far better than what he’ll see here on a weekly basis.

The kid is a proven, good player. Is he Cam Ward? No. Guess what? Nobody will be. We need someone who can keep the offense humming efficiently while hopefully improving the defense. Beck would be a home run get. There’s no debate. Especially when you are choosing between options like Mendoza, Emory, etc. Mateer was the one. He went elsewhere. A kid like Carson Beck would be a fine consolation prize.

Mateer is also an unproven commodity ... he played like **** against P4 teams.
