Florida game. Came out at noon. Beat the Gators. I remember it.
Wake Forest - The first touchdown was half way through the 1st and the 2nd TD was half way through the 2nd quarter. First was a long drive. Second included a big play. ---- Our defense giving up long drives is not a surprise nor an indication the team came out flat.
Not playing well is entirely different than "coming out flat" because of weather.
Not only does practicing in the humidity for an extra hour today not solve all 3 problems at ONCE, it solves none of the 3 issues you mentioned since it was at the end of a reportedly strong practice, not the beginning.
Common sense is dealing with real issues and criticizing and analyzing appropriately rather than trying to use a practice cut short to extrapolate larger agenda issues.
I have zero agenda, I assure you. I call it both ways. Not sure you're the same. I remember when humidity was not a big deal and made us stronger.
The Wake Forest game we came out flat. They drove on their first 3 drives. They drove and we did nothing. They drove and we scored 3 points. They drove and we did nothing. So the majority first half we played flat and unmotivated football. The offense sucked and the defense sucked. FLAT FLAT FLAT.
Call it lack of motivation and focus, call it humidity (likely a bunch of things) but I call it lack of mental toughness. IMO one way to get mentally tough is playing in disgusting conditions like HOT WEATHER. Something we used to pride ourselves on.
If we played every game like UF (which we don't see any of the last 5) then I would be more than happy. That was tough and physical football. I love that chit. That is what I want. 4 quarters of that chit will make anyone satisfied.
When you play unmotivated football, when you look flat and weak, I tend to think you're not mentally tough. The reason I was remarking on the practice being cut short is because of last year and those last 5 games. The way we finished the season is crap. The way we finished the season is what scares me. I fear we're not mentally tough. I fear we will let down and come out flat. So yes practicing in tough conditions makes you mentally tough. We used to pride ourselves on this practice.
Now we could have cut practice short and I'm making a big deal of nothing, fine. I'll admit it. But because I fear that we're no different then last year is why I brought it up.
