I'm amazed that 35% of those who've already voted have said yes.
In order to compete for national titles nowadays, your program needs to consistently...
- Reel off top 5 classes just about every year, with exceptions being top 10 classes.
- Field a near-dominant defense.
- Have at least solid quarterback play.
We're losing out on too many premier in-state targets over the past couple years, and apparently our best current commit for 2015 is going to be extremely difficult to hang onto. Our defense is a laughing stock and I suspect that our performance is a big reason why our CB recruiting has been inept (2013 and thus far in 2014). And quarterback play is as big a question mark as there is on the entire team, at least in the short term.
Unless all of these problems are fixed by landing a much higher percentage of in-state studs, dramatically improving our defense, and hoping one of our young QBs becomes our best and most reliable signal caller since Dorsey, then we're not going to be a legitimate threat to win the conference, let alone a national title.
Depending on how long he's here. With how recruiting has been going, if we continue to recruit well and he can develop guys like they did at temple, we should very good. If the defense get's to top 10 level, and we get really good QB play out of baby jesus or kaaya we will be in the running.

I liked your post, but there is still a void that would hinder Al from winning a title. Even if he landed all the top talent. He isn't a great coach and he doesn't surround himself with great assistants.
I'm absolutely shocked there's 35% that really think this coaching staff can pull that off.
We got any IT dorks in here? There has to be a way to decipher if the same person with multiple screen names is voting more than once.....it's the only explanation cause I refuse to believe there are THAT many people on here that don't know football.
maybe if we can find a way to beat dook

he'll be here until he's fired, which could be this year. the play on the field will warrant a firing but since this admin is so ****ing stupid that they signed him until 2020, we might be ****ed
I imagine that you must be about 30 years old, unemployed, probably on some sort of disability for being a functioning ******
That last thing you mentioned is probably THE most important task that a Head Coach is directly responsible for. It will end up being the major reason he fails here.
It's a **** shame too cause he's a likeable guy. At first I was really rooting for him to do well here...but what I've seen the last 2 years just screams that he's a more well spoken version of Shannon. Stubborn and reactive....no proactiveness whatsoever. He also hasn't recruited anywhere near as well as I thought he would.
He's our Ron Zook
Lulz at the 39 people that voted yes.
