Canes Camp Report: Day 7

I can't believe people are ready to hand over the reigns of our program to a middle-aged first time college level RB coach. This board is something else sometimes

lol, amazing, I would love to hear Ice's thoughts, behind closed doors, on how the ship is being run now vs the last time he was here... Ice must be learning a ton this time around

One thing for sure, AG knows how to run a program. Those kids love him, you see him running with Duke on his back? Thats good stuff right there! Ice, any of our coaches for that matter, are learning a ton from him. He does get it. Is he perfect? absolutely not. Does his game day coaching need some work? Sure. But all in all the guy runs a pretty great program. He has made it a joy these past few years to have the access to the team we have. I am pulling for him and all these kids to get this thing right....

And Duke... dude looks like he is playing in another league already.... I will go on record, he is going to change the RB position in the pros.... He is a three down Sproles..... IMO

Ice might be an excellent fit at head coach down the road....

Most definitely

Not to be a d*ck, but based on what? I cant believe people are starting this sh8t already. The guy doesn't have ONE season in as a position coach yet, and people already think me could be an "excellent fit" as an HC here one day? Do you know how many successful HS coaches have come and gone as position coaches in Division I programs, including this one? Solly was a HUGELY successful HS HC, who coached some of the best RBs ever to come through UM, and never got beyond position coach here, nor was ever offered any Coordinator much less HC jobs outside UM.

Im happy to have Ice on the staff as much as anyone, but I honestly don't see how even discussing this at such an early stage is in the least bit realistic. We have NO idea if he will be an even decent position coach, much less anything else.

I think it was sarcasm, as Ice used that phrase a handful of times during the interview.

Finally a voice of reason. I want Al Golden to be the coach at Miami until he is a old man. He may not be a finished product now but neither was Bobby Bowden when he came to FSU. He has the goods and his staff is the hardest working recruiting staff we have ever had here.

He has said from Day 1 that Miami is a destination job.
Nobody knows what happened with Penn State except Golden and Blake James. Wouldn't it be interesting if Golden rejected that job to stay at Miami?

Golden was the hottest young coach in college football when he was hired. He's had plenty of opportunity and motive to leave the moment the Shiit hit the fan, yet he's only been steadfast to Miami.
Win totals have gone up each year in the worst possible situation and in year 4 we have a team with depth throughout the class designations.

Hard not to admit, even for all the lunatic haters, that this is the most talented group of football players and athletes we've had at Miami in a decade.

I've got morons like zone cane negging me and sending me gifs of men fuucking each other, every time I defend Golden, calling me a *** for actually supporting this staff.

If you only look at the Canes a play at a time, you are bound to be a ****, but if you look 10 moves ahead you can see, from the start, what this staff has done and will do.

To clarify, I think he's awesome addition, not a substitute.

Finally looks like we will be using DUKE correctly forget taking a bunch of punishment between the tackles. Get him matched up on slower Safties and LBs and let him do damage.

Ice simply isnt articulate enough to be a division 1 HC. Smart guy, good coach, but needs to get his speaking skills together if he wants to rep a university outside of the community in SF.

I get what you are saying but have you heard Jimbo speak? Does not strike me as being very articulate and scholarly.

Let's not get crazy yet. I'm glad Ice got his shot. Al has given him a golden opportunity-- is there a coach in the country who would not want to coach Duke? I think Ice is going to do well, but might already be too old to grow into a college HC job. This staff has a chance to make its name this year. Lot of talent everywhere. Or, they can finish ruining their careers(at least Al and Mark and maybe Coley)

Ruining their careers? Whipple got a head coaching job back at his old school after what he did with Jacory. The coaching profession is a haven for retreads.

Pretty sure Whipple went QB coach in the NFL before going back to UMass. He also won a national championship there when they were a D1AA school so it's not like he's never done anything, even if he had a handful of issues at Miami.

It was a short interview with Harris, but I don't see why people think he has communication issues.
You guys act like he speaks like Snoop Dog.

Seemed eloquent for a football coach and passionate.

I was pretty critical of Harris on posts, especially during the Kirkland and Thomas recruiting fiasco.
Maybe he was anti Miami back then. I always thought he was Shannon's boy and got a job working at Miami as a reward for Brandon coming here. Golden pretty much fired his ***, so it is easy to see that he might have held a grudge.

One thing is for certain, he is all Cane now.
If I ever get the chance I'd like to apologize to his face and shake his hand.
I'm happy for The U that Coach Harris is aboard the train.

I hope AG is picking Ice's brain as well. They both can learn a lot from each other.

Zone cane calling you a *** and then sending you gifs of dudes ******* sounds about right for this board. Oxymoron and delusional. SMH
