lol ****. There's good and bad on every play no need to attack him. How many of you guys actually played football?
You go to the film room and watch. Sometimes in 11 on 11 a guy will break a big run. He ran to the strong side. It doesn't take much for a play to fail or be a big gain. All it takes is ONE or TWO people not to do their job or responsibility to make everyone else look like ****. If any of you played the game you would know that. Say you playing corner on the weak side. The offense runs a play to the strong side. Your strong side End didn't keep contain and your strong side Rover OLB get's blocked into oblivion. Unless your strong side corner shed the block and your MIKE linebacker read his keys and is FAST enough. That's going to be at least a 10 yard gain. The weak side CANNOT be blamed for that. The weak side did their jobs. But two or three guys make a mistake.
Ray Lewis said is best and I believe football is about effort. Being physically gifted is one thing and is SOMETIMES a factor. But anyone can become great through hard work and dedication. I'm a firm believer that football is about attitude.
I think about my HS we went from 3-7 freshman year to 11-2 senior year. We lost the State Title. We get any better athletes it was just strictly hard work. We wanted to be better. Our corner was a beast he made All-State At 5'5, 135lbs. Guarding receivers over 6'4 and faster than him. Well he shut down top guys all-season from the highly recruited schools. He surrendered one touchdown all year. It was frustrating to me. Coming from a standout little league program where all we did was win Titles and Pop Warner championships to being absolute garbage. I made 1st Team All-Region my senior year playing MIKE but my grades sucked ***. I was more focused on women partying and being young and stupid than football. I had some scholarships to some division II programs but didn't have the GPA. Graduated with a 1.57. Not stupid but I just didn't do my work. I was to busy smoking, messing with the chicks, and all the inner city distractions coming from the D. So I joined the Navy where I'm at now.
A lot about football is mental and any of our guys can step up and be great. You just gotta have a certain mindset. The mindset of a Savage when you playing football nothing else. Little innocent guys and goody-goodies don't have no business in this sport. You gotta go hard on the field and on the field only.
SO many of Miami's defensive deficiencies were based on mental issues than physical I believe. I just want guys to be there. At the point of attack and around the football. IF you can't bring him down due to physical strength then you have to hold the point and wait for the help to arrive.
Our defense will probably improve alot if the guys clear the mental hurdle. This is college football your not playing because a lack of speed or physical attributes. Mainly attitude. Just like the offense should improve a lot if receivers and TE's catch the football. We were explosive last year but honestly how many drops did we have. Catching the ball is mental as well. Don't believe ask larry fitzgerald or any other wide receiver. You focus on the ball and it'll go into your hands. IF you take your eye off the ball and your worried about the defenders or your specific route that ball will not land in your hands. Catch first think later. Everyone knows that
EDIT: This post ain't aimed at nobody in particular. But I'm just speaking common football knowledge wondering if any of you guys played the game from the way some of ya'll be talking. I doubt it. I'm no football genius either I just played. I leave the genius for the coaches.
