Can anyone explain why we lined up our DEs on WRs this year?

Shayon in a 3-4 is an OLB.

Did he cover the WR as a DE in a 4-3?

The pics they showed it looks like we are in the 3-4 and the "WR" is the TE split out wide.

Exactly. Saw Clowney doing the same thing in South Carolina's bowl game. Football today has become a chess match. We were able to do the same thing a few times this year by splitting the tight end out wide and bringing Coley into the slot close to the tackle. In most defenses that isolates that receiver on a LB or DE. Today a lot of DE's can run stride for stride with a lot of Tight Ends. Creating mismatches by formation is what a lot of offense is about today.

Reason is regardless what anyone says we played 3-4 Principles. Blood end lines up over slot and Anchor end rushes which will give up a 4 man rush. and we will be in a cover 3 most of the time! blood end job is to jam the slot and protect the seam after the slot releases inside or out the blood end will drop to Curl playing curl to flat or the comeback. reason why they run this is to 1. keep 2 safeties deep at all times 2.if he doesn't drop out a LB will bump over or the safety will invert down and line up over the slot. problem was the Anchor end couldnt give us a rush and we never rerouted any of the TE's or slot WR. its a must!

It's ******* retarded and there's no excuse for it. How about this.....get in a nickel defense.

This highlights one of my biggest problems with these coaches. They are too rigid and robotic. Like they're coaching out of some coaching for dummies manual. This de on the wr thing is one example. Another is the rotation of AQM and McCord. They only come in as third down rushers. And they almost always stunt. It's third and long, what should do Golden? Well section 7, pillar 4 part iii of my binder says we must stunt AQM and McCord, so that's what we'll do. Every time. They're so inflexible and you can see it carry down to the players on defense. Our guys aren't playing fast and downhill. They aren't playing with any instinct. Guys drop back into zones and don't cover anyone, they just run to a spot. Look coach, I ran right where you said to go!

It's like some of you didn't even watch the RAB. McCord covered the WR up the sidelines on at least 3 separate plays. AQM did on a couple as well. It was so bad, the Louisville fan sitting next to me asked what the **** we were doing.

Dropping in to coverage my ***...shayon green covering Tyler Boyd in man to man was the defense that was called.

Please don't defend this. Stop with the excuses.

There is NEVER a reason for SHAYON GREEN to be split out trying to jam a WR/TE and/or playing man. That's when you call a timeout or, better yet, have the defense adjust to the formation. I know, asking this coaching staff to make adjustments is laughable.

It;s like you guys don't know that McCord is an OLB in a 3-4.

Belichick just had 260 pound OLB Jamie Collins running down the sideline with Fleener from the Colts. In a 3-4, your OLB might have to run with a Flexed TE at times. Shayon Green doesn't have that athleticism. McCord does, Muhammad I'm not sure about. Never should be running with a slot WR though, rerouting-yes, running vertical with-no.

That's fine.. But Let's just not be disingenuous and call it a DE covering a WR cause it's wasn't.. It was an OLB moving out covering a WR which happens a lot in all levels of football.

I don't care what lable you put on Green, he should never be covering anyone outside. Ever. You're putting us at an extreme disadvantage.

You know what Golden said when he took this job? It's about players, not plays. We're going to fit our scheme to the players. That's what he said. Putting a true freshmen DE recruit out on a wr or Shayon no knees Green on a slot wr is not fitting the scheme to the players. It's the exact opposite.

You're hiding behind the fact that Shayon stands up occasionally as an "olb" in this defense built by dipshlts- he's anything but.

We had a 270 lb man with 14 knee braces out in space covering someone PRE SNAP.

And guys like you don't realize its ridiculous to have a 255 pound human being trying to run stride for stride with a 185 pound human being.

I really wish I was allowed to point out your idiocy. unfortunately I am not, so I shall refrain from doing so.

This is called forcing a scheme onto your personnel. In other words our coaches suck and can't adapt their scheme to maximize player strengths.
