Camp Report #13 (2nd scrimmage)

I'll piggy back off of the poster earlier saying we will have a top 30 defense in the nation..this is an NFL scheme that was ran by frosh n sophomores last year..a year later into this scheme and you can already see the defense playing much faster. I know most would point to this being just practice or scripted or whatever but I challenge you to compare this years scrimmage and practice tapes (YouTube) and really look at how the defense played against our offense then make a fair judgement. It looks night n day to me which is another reason why I believe our defense will be considerately better.

I am assuming the role of the optimistic here while saying this but by no means am I condoning how our defensive players played and the coaching that took place last year. I do however think that after the Nebraska game a lot of people will take notice of the maturation this defense has went through.

What are you talking about? Williams was hardly in the video. Certainly not enough to have you say he caused alot of ugly looking plays.

Defense looks like they're swarming everywhere the ball is. The offense looks like it is going to be electric this year.

Honestly I think the CANES will come out & blast Louisville in the season opener. I'm getting real encouraged by what I'm seeing so far.

encouraging to see the energy on defense too. Figs the vocal leader, Carter, Bush, Mccord and AQM bringing the rukus.... But, those CBs look like they're getting abused a lil bit. I know our WR group is special, but ****...



And i can see us having the best WR/RB duo in the nation too. Any pair better than Coley & Duke?
 
The one wear Deon blew up dobard and when Kirby batted a ball is all Williams plus he got sacked

Linebackers are bringing the wood as well. We can't really tell about the DT's and DE's because they can't hit the qb, but they sure look like they are getting pressure and not being pushed against the run.

Defense is looking like a real Cane's defense.

Another thing to consider is that the offense has a huge advantage in the scrimmages: you can't hit the qb.

In a real game those early qb hits, even if they aren't sacks, are like body blows.
You shrug them off early, but later on you start worrying about them. Same with qb hits.

In scrimmages qb's act with impunity, with no worries about being rocked.
 
yes i would say Coley has been hitting the weights. no string bean anymore

Don't forget Crawford..everyone loves scoring TD's but he looks bout as happy as 'Teddy B facing the 2012 Miami Defense'..flying around making plays

Burns got toasted on that long td, and then didn't chase Coley.
Coley must have incredible long speed if a kid who is one of the fastest hurdlers in America doesn't even try to chase him down.

What does that have do to with a "floater"? A ball that dropped over the LB level and right in stride to a TE. Sometimes safeties make plays. Olsen was sacked multiple times and threw a pick that was clearly a Jacory-like pick. You sound like Shannon when he used tell reporters that WRs need to fight for the ball better on clear underthrows.
 
Really happy Malcolm is out there and looking good! Looks like his confidence is back

Regardless of what the scheme is, the Best part about our defense is we have talented depth now
 
I said a route miscommunication no he needs to fight for the ball better but ok and still yet dont get your players killed sometimes you have to take chances to open up thr defense
