Anyone else think it might be a good idea to move Corey King to the OL?

We're a bit thin at guard now that Isidora went down. We're also bringing in Kamalu, Derosier, and Renfro.

Dumbass fans.

1 3second clip of him in a drill and he's a JAG, lulz

Everyone gets beat at one point, no one is invincible, doesn't make you a JAG. But we have a bunch of Madden coaches on here so....

Yep!!! Ed reed and s. Taylor got beat. It happens to the best

Even the kicker is big

CORAL GABLES — When he played tight end at Penn State, Al Golden‘s game lacked “twitch.”

“I have no twitch. I never had twitch,” he said.

When using the word to describe a quality possessed by a football player, Golden defines it as the ability to produce explosive, sudden movement. That’s one of the things he likes most about Al-Quadin Muhammad.

“He’s made an impression,” Golden said of the 6-foot-3, 230-pound freshman defensive end. “He’s high-energy. Twitchy.”

Heading into Day 4 of training camp, several other freshmen are making an impact on Miami’s coaching staff and players. The two names most often mentioned: Stacy Coley and Artie Burns. Coley, a receiver from Oakland Park-Northeast, and Burns, a safety from Miami-Northwestern, should be in the conversation once backup roles are defined later on in camp.

“We’re pushing them,” Golden said. “They need to know they’re going to be pushed, because they can help us.”

Other items from camp:

* Duke Johnson said the biggest difference for him this year will be the variety of ways he’ll be used. “Kickoff returns, running back, wide receiver, fullback …”

Wait, fullback?

“Yeah,” said Johnson (5-9, 196). “Some of everything.”

Johnson said he works with the running backs group exclusively and doesn’t put in time with the receivers. Or quarterbacks, or kickers …

* Senior Jimmy Gaines appears to be the favorite to start at middle linebacker over sophomore Raphael Kirby. Gaines (6-3, 240) has been working exclusively with the first-teamers and has been praised often for his maturity and leadership. Linebackers coach Micheal Barrow had a good line: “He’s got one of those ‘Ray Charles’ old souls.”

* Starting defensive end Anthony Chickillo was spotted before practice wearing a boot on his left foot. He shed the boot for practice and wore a red (no-contact) jersey. “We’re going to integrate him a little today,” Golden said. Chickillo appeared to be moving well.

* Golden said he believes freshman corner Corn Elder has a hamstring issue. He and Deon Bush wore red shirts. Freshman offensive tackle Sunny Odogwu (foot) was again in yellow (limited).

* Redshirt freshman offensive tackle Taylor Gadbois, in the mix for a reserve spot, appeared to hurt his left shoulder in one-on-one battle drills. Gadbois was checked out by a trainer.

* Backup right guard Danny Isidora will see a foot specialist tomorrow.

* Early enrollee freshman Alex Figueroa, who earned a starting spot with an impressive spring, lost his black shirt (first-team defense). Junior Thurston Armbrister wore black for the first time this camp.

* Transfer hopefuls Justin Renfrow (Virginia), Ufomba Kamalu and Julio Derosier (junior college) watched practice. Golden would not comment on any possible roster additions.

* Much is made of the offseason gains UM has made in the weight room. Sophomore kicker Matt Goudis should not excluded. “I’ve gained five pounds,” he said. “I’m up to 175. All my numbers are up. My ball is flying.”

No. I think Alex gall might just have to step in earlier than expected. We still have Wells & Bunche too. Isidora should be out 6-8 weeks depending on what he broke. Corey king would also have to transition into his new position. Kehoe would be a great help but I dont think he can be expected to be a backup G this season.

Figs has to start over armbrister

Why is that? Armbrister looks the part now. He made some great strides in the offseason. I love the open competition...gonna make both of them better. Figatron is still a beast, but he's a frosh and brand new to this defense. With Golden, it won't matter too much who starts because they both will get plenty of reps in the games.
