Cam Ward appreciation thread

I only have one regret about Cam and it’s that we were only able to have him for one year. If Beck returns to 100% we should be more than good, but it sure would have been nice to run it back one more year and see what we could accomplish with a competent defense.

If we win 10 games this year. We’re building a program. If we win 8, it’s just another rinse repeat. Mario came here to build a program. IF healthy, nothing less than 10 games is worthy. People in the building say the attitude is that they MUST WIN the conference

Such a fine line in college football with records these days

We coulda been 12-0 and also what…8-4?

It’s college football and wild **** happens but we need to see more consistent performances against teams we are on another level talent wise

I understand wanting to put a number on wins but coming into the season people said 10 wins was where we needed to be, we reached it, and I don’t think anyone was really all that happy about it

Too much ******* around week to week last year for me. We need to be more dominant in general to know the roster is really getting to where it needs to be. Anomalies happen but it was just who we were last year

Declaring our defense competent in March...

Really fair points here. My thoughts are geared towards 2030. I know that sounds crazy, but I have kids and I want them to enjoy Miami football with me. In 2030, we will be eligible for the “P2.” There will be a finite amount of universities who can compete in the P2. Brand, relevance and performance will be huge factors as the next major realignment moves take place. If we have 3 or 4 ten win seasons and a conference championship it’s a different conversation around Miami the brand and the program. We already see some of this with the new ACC rev split deal. For us to get viewership, we have to be CONSISTENTLY top tier. Totally agree with your points though.

TLDR: no one outside of us lunatics look at the bad bounces or bad luck. Heck most people don’t even look at the schedules, some call those people casuals… but it’s all about eyeballs and what B1G Noon Kickoff and Gameday can package up for the avg consumer.

I really couldn’t agree with your whole premise here more

It’s been a mixed bag (mostly disappointed) since Mario got here on the field, but I feel like we at least didn’t allow ourselves to be left behind. The investment into resources and to me the attempts to stay ahead of the curve are all big positives for the program

I wasn’t too thrilled with the Mario hire but I felt like from Day 1 we finally had a coach in place that would be allowed to see his plan through. Whether it worked or not remained to be seen, but the coaches the last 20 years before him were basically DOA because we weren’t a serious program

My biggest worry was that Mario does not work out and then after him, who were the boosters going to trust enough again to open their check books like they have for Mario. Do we see a situation where if Mario does not work out they just say well if he didn't work, who's going to? and then we go right back to what we were before, or are they going to keep going now that we have a president in place who supposedly loves the football program and understands the importance of it.

Jhall..
Great post........ but our pathetic D was not an anomaly........it was a disaster.........that sunk our ship chances and ruined our season........it was our Achilles heel...........

Mario has just as much to prove as we do.........play well would be a win win........for all of us.

If it does not work out he would have put all his heart and cojones in it........... so the verdict would be he gave it a shot...bleeding orange and green......
He has the knowledge...the support staff has got to be on the same page.....and throw in some luck.

My question is this..........how many rings does Mario have as a player (at the U) and Coach (at Bama)?.......... and learning under Saban has shown him the blueprint........ so it would be ludicrous to question his competence or knowledge at this time....who would bring to the table what Mario is doing?
