Cam’Ron Jackson, 6’6, 340 DT, Memphis transfer

I just talked to a friend, that talked to his cousins friends sister that works for UF. Apparently they’re paying Jackson $8MM and guaranteed him the starting job with 70% of the snaps. Jackson asked Mario if they would guarantee the job, but we don’t do that. Mario didn’t lose Jackson, we just wouldn’t make the same guarantees. So actually Mario won this one.
lol so we lost a recruit. no one cares about the excuses only results. its a results business and excuses get you fired.

All we have rn is LT, JHH, Gore. Moten is most likely not ready for significant snaps. You need 4/5 Interior guys and we have 3. We need at minimum one dawg on the interior, and we need a true NT because every team should have one to allow for flexibility. And we should probably go after another depth piece aswell.

I get it, but its about snap count. Darrell Jackson played a lot of snaps last year, probably more than you'd want him to play. Off hand, he was our leader at snapcount on iDL by quite a bit.

To replace his workload, you're going to get increased snaps from the incumbents, you expect Moten to take on more snaps, a healthy Lichtenstein (not ideal on the interior, but he'll get snaps inside) plus an increase from LT and JHH...and now you have Gore, who is more of a get than many on here are giving credit...he's small, but analytics really like him. We're saying he's a pass rusher only...but what if he comes in an is an effective three down disruptor? So, I do agree, we need some playable depth, but HOW playable...I've said since the beginning of the off-season...we really need guys that maximize their snapcounts and really excel in a role. Sure, we'd love to get three down war daddies that become All-Americans...but those are hard to come by in the portal. But, an effective two-down run stopper? You can find those, especially ones playing in a lower level that want to play up a level. Now, will they look incredible coming off the bus? Well, you've narrowed your search criteria, but you can find'em.

Darrell Jackson leaving was a late development. It's not like they knew all season he was leaving.

There's still plenty of time to get a big DT or 2 before next season. There's a second portal period after spring ball as well that we did pretty well at last year.

I'll judge the roster in August.

Molten flashed quite a bit in the Pitt game. And Pitt is solid in the trenches so that caught my eye. But yes, ideally we can grab two portal DT’s so Horton isn’t rushed into action prematurely.

Flashing one game verse being ready for a 12 game season is a big leap. We need help at DT badly. What if LT gets injured we are screwed. We are depleted of depth and lack top end talent. Not sure what we can find in the portal but we got to find some players

Preaching to the choir my man. I know the depth sucks but Moten flashed in just 1 game cuz that’s the only one he really played in. And for all the recruiting criticism Joe gets I think our DT room was the overall best performing unit on the field in 2022 so him and other making leaps isn’t an outrageous possibility IMO. Just gotta hope we land a couple guys somehow.

Lichtenstein.

What about putting 20 pounds on Chantz and moving him inside?
Was just about to say this; CW lacks the coordination and instinct quite frankly to play edge but has the measurables, move him inside. Doesn't help us in stopping the run but we need everything we can get at this point.

Problem with kids these days is rather than pack on some extra weight and slide over to DT, they will simply transfer....again, another consequence from portal landscape.

He would need to pack on alot of weight if he's 255 like listed. Even still we seem to have plenty of of pass rushing Dts doesn't fix not having a trench bully.
