Calvin Ridley talks about his recruitment (was going to go to Miami)

My statement still Valid, the bag game is definitely real but to pin all of our recruiting woes on soley “bags” is unrealistic, mediocrity for nearly 2 decades, 2 awful coaching tenures, no National Coverage and burned relationships with schools are the reason why these kids are making Miami their second option, & when Saban is promising them a championship and a spot on an NFL roster, you see why “bags” aren’t the end all be all

Couldn't agree more. The only thing we can do to combat the bag game is to win and show guys they can still reach their NFL dreams and 'make the crib great'! At worst this will make those schools really have to dig deep if they want someone outta SFLA.

Carol Soffer is our Bag Lady..."Legitimate" Bag Lady...but I do wonder if the desks in the coaches offices will come fully stocked or not?

To counter the negative recruiting:

"We lost the last 3 games because we were a little short-handed. You can help us right away and help us get to an NC."

"Come to the U and we'll treat you with respect and consideration and look out for your overall well being."

Will the positive U recruiting bear fruit? I believe it is currently and will continue short and long term.

Overcoming the mediocrity of the last 15 or so years won't happen overnight. And yes, winning will play in huge role as well.

Every bag man would laugh their head off if they heard another school was telling them this.

ANY program can say we'll treat you with respect and consideration. That ain't convincing ANYONE elite to come especially when other schools are saying the same thing then giving the recruit money to show they're serious.

Last thing a elite recruits want to hear is a bunch of a excuses as to why they can't be great. Your suppose to be selling them on what you legitimate can be. ****, Indiana could say their QB or RB got hurt that's why they didn't make a bowl game. Does that make you want to play for Indiana?

Man **** that bull****. I'm unreasonably petty if said athlete didn't choose Miami I'd prefer they never bring up Miami in any form of conversation.

Someone should start a thread of the roster of players who wanted/could’ve potentially committed Miami, would be the best in CFB today
QB-Bridgewater
HB- Dalvin Cook
WR- Ridley
DB- Jalen Ramsey, Patrick Peterson to name a few

A number of teams do this. Auburn would give a highly rated QB a Corvette - and the kid's family was already wealthy/very well to do.

SEC teams go about it a bit differently. It's a system.

Alabama has their top recruiting targets - top boosters go after them.

All Nicky has to do is visit and make the offer official, and it's often too good to pass up.

I recall his (and SBB) recruitment vividly. They were at some sort of 7v7 tourney or something, getting ready to announce their college intentions. CIS sent someone there to cover, everyone was hyped because the word was they were both going to pick Miami. Then, Genron and his like, got their hands on the kids and told them to "hold off" and make a more "informed decision". That bag game was as blatant as it gets.

TRUTH. Saban doesn't have to do much on his part since the these players are taken care of by the "community"

Calvin can say that all he wants. Me, him, and everybody in North broward know the truth...he wasn’t going to be academically eligible here.

How different are the admission standards between Miami and Bama? Just curious, I believe you are right on this just wondering about the difference in academic standards.

We would be unbeatable, and this is what frustrates me the most because I know we can land these kids.
We will never land them all and that’s okay, but I agree, would love to get a few of these guys. We’re still doing program rehabilitation but I think starting with the ‘20 class we’ll be getting guys of this caliber about every year!

I remember Cam exploding on Twitter at them and basically destroying all credibility both had with fans
