Calvin Ridley talks about his recruitment (was going to go to Miami)

Bagged.

Stop it with the “we have to win” nonsense. We are winning and on an extreme upswing. And guess what? Guys are still be targeted by the bag schools and being bought. That’s just the nature of the game now.

Their strategy is to target the top guys down here every year, and they make them offers that most aren’t willing to refuse. Sabag started it, and people are now copying his model.

No, Saban didn't start it.

It's been going on for decades. At least six decades I'm aware of.

I stopped listening at "I committed right there" lol

I dont think every kid gets offered bags but it seems like colleges target the elite players. UM cant compete with the $EC in that regard but we have a better chance when we get to the players first and lock up the rest of dade, Broward, and PBC

He committed to Alabama during the summer, gameday experience didn't have **** to do with anything.

Advanced age WR. Amari Cooper was entering the NFL by the time he got to Alabama and they are less than a year apart in age. fvck'em.

Uncle Drew *** MFr.

Yeah I never said "we have to win". I said a lot of problems are solved by winning. Of course teams are going to follow Sabans lead and drop bags to the best players. Miami doesn't drop bags like the $EC schools. But having a winning program can only help in the efforts to land recruits. Which is happening now and why I think Richt will get a lot of recruits he is after.
We have a winning program, and the bags are still flying. And the bags are still working.

Listen up folks, you gotta realize, a whole lot of these college coaches will do anything to keep their jobs. Paying players is nothing new. What has to be realized is most college towns have always been Country to anybody from Miami, especially including Fsu and gaytorville. It was against the law for Miami/Dade County players to go to or sign with the gaytors. But to get a True Miami player to leave the City took a whole lot.

That's why it was a big deal when DERRICK THOMAS went and signed with Bama, HE was as far as i know was the first big name Miami player to go to Bama. Than marvin jones going to Fsu was another big one. Even tho UM still prevailed, but now, guys are leaving the City left and right. Under the last 3 regimes, it was understandable, the guys had to make the best decision or them. In comes coach richt, and he said it the other day, "a guy can come to Mlami now and get everything he needs to be succesful, he doesnt have to leave to go and get that anywhere else.

So when the question is asked "Is Miami back" that question was already answered last year once the Turn-over chain got implemented. The final piece to the puzzle was players being able to have fun again, everything else is already in place, so its a matter of just enjoying the ride now. The only thing clemson, Bama and whoever else you want to throw in there have over us is more seasoned depth. For those who keep criticizing rosier, he's a better qb than jalen hurts, that freshman they threw in their, he's equall to or better than bryant, those guys benefitted more from being in stable programs with more seasoned talent, once our second stringers start ballin, nobody here would or should be surprised if we make it to the college football playoffs, which means beating Fsu or clemson.

Im not sure if people realize Fsu has not dropped off, in fact that may still be our toughest game all year, and maybe we'll play them twice. People getting their record last year confused with their actual talent, and their actual talent level is alot better than what they are getting credit for. Offensively they got players and 2 proven qb's. Defensively, their d-line and secondary got some boys that can do work, its linebacker that you can say as of now is e soft spot on their defense but with a new motivated and dedicated staff, which has motivated the team, Fsu has a chance to run the table some, they may end up with 2 losses (by us )or 3 loses but the best thing is, we got a coaching staff that will not let our players sleep on no team, coac richt is a real one, so if we are the team we think we will dust Fsu no matter how much talent they have.

The one thing i will say is this Michael jackson will be forced to prove who he is this year, he doesnt have elite speed, but knows how to play the game but once Al and the boys start catching up, they can hang it up, cause nobody is going to be mentally tougher than us from here on in.

Um no...Being on a extreme upswing would be stomping out the scrubs we struggled with last year winning the Acc and playing for the national championship. We are definitely heading in the right direction but I wouldn't call it a extreme upswing. We need a season like 2000 were we maybe have one hiccup and pretty much dominate every team we face the rest of the way.

I would assume that those with the deep pockets only go full throttle for certain coaches. Like with Richt at UGA, I'm sure Shula's son lacked the $ame kind of bag backing that his replacement (Saban) got. I'm sure the same can be said for Ron Zook and Urban Meyer. Urban prolly had acce$$ to re$ource$ that Zook didn't even know exi$ted while he was the head coach in Gainesville. There's levels to this.

Like I said before, we have to be dominant before kids start telling some of these schools with bags to ***** off. We can't barely skate by easy opponents because the kids can see that. Even if the kids don't the recruiters do and will point out how we got destroyed by legit competition.

Recruiters will probably say things like: "We beat Clemson by 17 and Miami couldn't even score a TD against them! Wake Forest played Clemson tougher then Miami did. Do you really think you'll win a championship there?"

"Those dudes at Miami lost to Pitt by double digits in an empty Pitt stadium! They're a 8-4 team if they weren't so lucky!"

"Miami needed miracle plays just to get to 10 wins meanwhile we dominated tougher opponents and we'll give you x amount of dollars while doing it here!"

This is our reality.

why cant people believe he was blown away by bama? it has happened alot with kids my friends have coached. some sec schools have ridic atmosphere.

Couldn't agree more...anyone who can't tell the difference between the season we had last and the one we had in 2000 isn't being real with themselves. We need a 2000 like season I'm I feel confident that if Malik plays the whole season like he did in the Notre Dame game we can do it

lol the age old question... what came first for Saban, the bags or the championships?

To counter the negative recruiting:

"We lost the last 3 games because we were a little short-handed. You can help us right away and help us get to an NC."

"Come to the U and we'll treat you with respect and consideration and look out for your overall well being."

Will the positive U recruiting bear fruit? I believe it is currently and will continue short and long term.

Overcoming the mediocrity of the last 15 or so years won't happen overnight. And yes, winning will play in huge role as well.
