This maybe tough for any who are still on board with Mr. JD Arteaga leading our program simply b/c he’s an alum & former player. As I’ve stated numerous times on both the football main board, & baseball board: YOU NEVER HIRE FROM WITHIN A FAILED REGIME. For Miami Baseball, we’ve now done this for the past two hires (DiMare & Arteaga), which is really unimaginable when considering the tangible proof to validate this statement.

While DiMare at least provided up and down results, lending us to be a competitive team, the numbers I’m about to share regarding JD thus far are quite concerning, if not downright freighting.

Record After 18 Games:
2024: 11-7
2025: 12-6

Runs Allowed After 18 Games:
2024: 103
2025: 77

Runs Scored After 18 Games:
2024: 166
2025: 152

Cumulative Record vs. Teams From The State of FL.:
9-15

Record vs. Non-P4/G6 Baseball Programs:
13-4

Record vs. P4 Baseball Programs:
17-26

Record vs. G6 Baseball Programs:
8-7

Record vs. teams that finished/are currently .500+:
18-28

Do w/ these #’s as you will, but under JD, thus far, the pitching has been slightly better in 2024 vs. 2025; however, at this same juncture the offense has been slightly worst. This would explain the almost identical start to the season (& frankly, if we didn’t have a game cancelled vs. NJIT last season, most likely after 18 games in 2024 we would’ve been 12-6).

Here’s the alarming trend in 2024 & 2025:
-We’ve absolutely beat up on the non P4/G6 teams
-We’re struggling w/ G6 teams
-We’re dominated by P4 competition
-We’ve been feeble against ANY team w/ a +.500 record, which is most concerning.

I wanted to see how we would fair against UCF, a very good P4 team from the Big XII, & we were humbled expeditiously. Oh, there was one other stat I neglected to include:

Record at Home:
29-18

Record on The Road:
10-18

Right now we’re trending the wrong way, & when the silver lining is “at least we didn’t get swept”, that’s not really the position we want to be in.

With the new landscape of college athletics if this season plays out the way some of us predicted before the season even started there is zero reason JD should get a 3rd season. I said it before; he is probably a great guy, diehard cane, I honestly wouldnt wish what he went through on anyone. You can be a stoic/quiet leader. But he seems nearly comatose. Even when he comes out to change pitchers; nothing just a pat on the back. He's been a part of a sinking ship for years whether he was able to do things his way or not. Which might be partially true but the lack of development on some arms is way to obvious as that is his "specialty." I sat on my couch, a former low level college coach with no tech and said Rosario just need a bit of work on pitch design and maybe a tweak with arm slot and he would truly be elite.

He's been here, but even with just having 1.5 recruiting classes he has turned the roster over. This is his team. Its time Miami completely goes away from Miami guys. If you dont want to spend on a big name put in some work and uncover a lower level gem and tell them you coach, we will take care of NIL and we will get you to the full scholarship allotment within 2-3 years. But we need to see change and improvement.

I changed my season prediction by just a few more wins; why...probably just trying to find a reason to keep watching. (Even just got the new white baseball hat with the green brim/green M - Adidas did a good job with hats) I think the ACC is very good top to bottom. But I think we have just a few pieces that will allow us to string together some wins at some point (giving a lot false hope), win some games we probably shouldnt, and Cuvet looks to be avoiding the sophomore slump. But we will also look horrific at times and probably fizzle down the stretch.

But we really are no better than last year, We are starting to see the same mistakes, miscues, and poor baseball (and some of these kids come from programs that coach that out of them). You arent winning P5 games with a roster overhaul of P4 transfers. Thankfully a few of them have played a ton of baseball and that goes a long way and why I think we probably overachieve a bit (underachieve by Miami standards).

But enough rambling. Lets hope the wind is blowing in this weekend and we surprise Wake. If its blowing out....buckle up. They are averaging about 3 homeruns a game at home and their arms are striking out about 12-14 a game.

Dimare waited in line and got his shot. JD waited in line and got his shot. Both failed but JD somehow worse than Gino. Are there anymore assistants out there that we feel like we owe something to and could hire? Looks like we may finally have to go outside the Morris tree and actually hire someone.

Duplicating Jai Lucas in baseball would be like hiring Josh Elander from Tennessee if that is the way Rad likes to hire. I think its even more critical in baseball to hire someone proven.

Josh Elander is the only option!!!!

I would rather follow the Clemson and FSU model for baseball.

HIRE PROVEN EXPERIENCED WINNERS. It doesn't have to be hard. I am not sure why Rad or the powers to be (big money boosters) insist on rolling the dice with all these hires.

It makes me want to bang my head against a wall. Proven winners almost guarantee some level of success.

Getting harder and harder to do. I feel like we missed a good window when we hired JD to poach a proven guy.

More beneficial to anchor down where you're at now vs leave for a crippled program in a conference that is a few years from imploding.

"Better is the enemy of good enough" is only valid if your standards are high.

JD is not good enough.

He threw a hail mary with the roster turnover, and unfortunately he's still the head coach....so we're getting the same results
