As a New Yorker (most of my life), it was awesome to see the energy and excitement the kids showed for the U at JHH’s ceremony. We really need to take a hard look at other areas we can penetrate like we seem to have in the NYC area. It’s is pathetic how we have to continuously battle for top SoFlo talent who claim the U as their “dream school”. I really hope we can continue to leverage this pipeline (Cali & Vegas) to cherry pick players we like. And let’s stop chasing these SoFlo prima Donnas. Our new SoFlo motto should be, “Your in or kick rocks”

Our greatest team ever had a tremendous amount of talent from all over the country.

We neeed to find a reasonable mix of local and national players. Staff (and current players) have done a great job of starting a pipeline from places like Vegas and NY.

I've been saying this for a while.

Miami's location is not an advantage for Miami kids. Miami kids take living in Miami granted. The "stay home" angle has no weight to them.

Miami's location is an advantage for OOS kids because they've been exposed to the cold, boring areas they've lived in most of their life.

Absolutely.
Have to stop trying to get these kids that idolize all the turncoats.
Also have to stop thinking that there is this culture issue with the Midwest trench bullies. We fish and hunt and go four wheeling down here just like the west of them. Not that manny country bars but the ones that we do have are dope enough. Davie has the annual rodeo. The west coast kids seem to live it when they get here. Kaaya milo and all the other kids that played here in the past didn’t have a problem. Dj seemed to be a different issue. Maybe the staff or maybe he just got beat by a BAMF in Garvin. The big boys go all over to recruit and we did also at one point. Doesn’t mean forget about sofla but we can’t be depending on these flakes and saban nut swallowers. Either you want to be a cane or move along

This is exactly the logic that ensures we will stay mediocre.

We used to get a lot of players from the NE and OH and PA. Vinny and Steve McGuire were from NYC. Bernie and Kellly from OH and PA I think. Tons of others too. Local brought the swag but talent came from everywhere. I love the local kids but the saying under JJ was, you can come to Miami or get beat by the kids who do.

Look when Howard went into the hoods the only school really recrting the inner city down here was OU and just for RBs. Our success force all these old white dudes to get off the expressway and into the hood. The kids don’t need us any more so we need to find ones who do. Hunger made The U, not bags. Find the hungry kids wherever they are.

Japan used to be the rising power everyone worried about back then.

This is sour grapes bs.

Miami kids go elsewhere because UM has made VERY clear for 15+ years that it gives zero ***** about football. So why should they entrust their futures to UM?

Local kids will always be receptive to staying home. Miami has to make it a good decision for them.

Just win football games.
Boom, win games, and they will come. NE, Mid West, West Coast, SW, Texas, South. Every one of those ***kers will be knocking. Howard tapped into the motherload, no one wanted to touch those kids, Howard had that vision, saw the talent and worked it. Today, everyone is mining it. Offering all sorts of dreams and cash. SoFlo ain’t what it used to be for us. The kids are here, so is everyone else. Want to turn their heads, bring in talent from everywhere USA, Win, Big, those ***kers will be clawing at our door to get in. And then we can say it’s Cane In or Cane Out.🙌🏿

Right. Because every kid we get from out of state will be ed reed, dj williams, ken dorsey and bryant mckinnie.

Maybe you should look at a book on strategy.

Really?

Exactly how many Ed Reeds, Dj Williams, Jeremy Shockeys and Bryant McKinnies has Dade and Broward produced in the last 5-10 years?

You missed the point entirely. So fla has produced plenty of talent the past decade, in any case. But the boil the ocean strategy, recruit everywhere, blah blah. That was Coker’s undoing.

Our core strength is access to local talent. We will not be back without keeping it home much better than we hve. We can supplement with top kids from elsewhere, but we cannot go looking for needles in the haystack everywhere.
