Brian Edwards transfer back to Miramar from STA

Personally, I've felt our recruiting is only slightly ahead of where it was.

It's not on the level of most of the name programs to my eyes. Doesn't have to be because of our ridiculous location advantage, but we aren't where I'd like to see, personally.

For 2017 I agree. However, if we can even get half of the ballers we're in on for 2018 then it's a huge improvement.

That's always the rallying cry - wait until next year! We see this over and over - it almost always fails (id say in fact that it always fails) and we're always left holding the bag

I may be in the minority but Edwards isn't that special. Losing Henderson stung. This class is pretty mediocre right now. We have no OL, RB, WR, DTs, DBs on the roster. Kids should be breaking the door down. But this is what you get when you hire unknowns lime Bamda/Rumph.

I like Edwards a lot. He can turn his hips and he plays big. I think we should tell him he can start out at corner and go from there.

That tape of him at 7-on-7 in Gainesville makes him look like a better corner than Redwine anyway.

redwine disappointed me. He plays way too far off his man and seems to lack elite speed. Always trailing

I really can't believe how many people thought that immediately we would be recruiting like a top5 program after a decade of crap, and 5 yrs of Golden and that so called defense.

Is it really surprising for recruits to want to see the proof over the course of a full season before the top guys start buying in? Because it really isn't to me.

I expect us to get another juco cb/s or two this offseason, because we will need immediate help. Also the 2017 class can't even be compared to the 2018 class as far as talent is concerned. It's not even close.

Because people see what Michigan's been doing in recruiting the last couple of years. And they've been just as mediocre as we are, if not worse.

Marquee programs in the ultimate recruiting hotbed like Miami should turn their recruiting fortunes around immediately with the right HC.

He's not going to Florida

Well that's who he is in contact with...

Which corner are they dropping for him Davis?

Doubt they would drop anyone but Edwards is looking around. I'm not saying he's going to decommit or anything but he's not as solid as people think.

He said out his own mouth in a interview last week he wasnt too solid. He didnt mention uf tho. He said he was going to visit louisville, colorado, and syracuse.

The reason he said he isnt all the way solid is cuz he want to play cb but said banda want him at safety.

This has nothing to do with an interview though and I didn't mention anything of his position. He's in contact with UF. Whether they take him or not, I don't know.

Strictly off my film study, Redwine is a below average player right now. We need to upgrade on him or coach him up immediately.

I pointed that out a few weeks ago when someone said he was playing well. I could not believe what I had read and saw with my eyes. I've been at every home game and made a big note of it after the first two home games, still going on. He's been getting killed all year, especially on simple comeback routes. Plays too far off his man. He doesn't have good recovery speed.

Sadly this has been going on since Killian. Go watch the state semis vs Columbus two years ago. He's playing out of position.

He can't play with that much cushion if he stays at corner here. Should be playing press.

Redwine would have been a safety at Louisville if he stuck with them. That's where his upside was.

But I think a part of the problem is that under Golden recruiting wasn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Sure we missed out on a lot of the top guys, but we did have a **** load of talent, and were consistently top3 in the ACC talent wise no matter what. The problem was the coaching and scheme and play calling.

I think the main difference with recruiting under Richt and Golden will mainly be not taking as many recruits who are super raw AND actually landing some top recruits yearly. Anyways, we haven't even finished his first season and recruiting class yet, so theres a lot of time. And all indications show the 2018 class will be elite, even if we do miss out on a few top guys.

This is true. Golden's recruiting was very good except for 2015, when it was ok but awful on the backend. Golden's 2016 class was somehow awesome despite Goldy being on the hot seat. There has been no bump with Richt, yet.

Can't blame him that's why he should be a safety... Pete told y'all this also he is too slow to be a complete corner

This is a possible indicator that subject of OP does NOT have that dog in him.

Michigan was recruiting well before Jim arrived

According to 247
2010 ranked 17th
2011 ranked 26th
2012 ranked 6th
2013 ranked 4th
2014 ranked 20th

Michigan's class is currently ranked 11th, and ours is 12th. Last year they finished 6th, but they got off to a slow start. They closed strong with Rashan Gary. Also, Michigan is still looking gamebreakers at the skill positions.

Let's wait and see how we finish on an already solid class.

And I hate to push the "wait till next year" button, but we either have commitments or lead for a ton of talented guys. Recruiting starts so much earlier than it used to. We were just late to the party for a lot of '17 kids.

Still time before NSD.

I don't know about his instincts, but I prefer him at safety.

Based on what I've seen, Carter and Gibson strike me more as big-hitter/in-the-box type guys.

We need someone with range.

Very true. I hate it when people are constantly saying "don't worry, next year is stacked and x, y, and z are locks!" People are invariably a couple measures too optimistic, we need to lock down this year without any excuses of waiting for next year, next year is too far away to spculate while this year is ongoing.

Unfortunately, I think people use that mindset to rationalize away the ongoing years failures, and I'm not talking specifically about this year, I see people doing this every single year and it's got to stop.

I've always liked him at corner, but I remember you were the guy saying that Deon Bush was a safety when people like me were trying to put him at CB.
