Brent Key

Is he this years Mike Elko? If there's a year a big time program gets him it's now. If not next year we'd have to worry about UF or FSU getting him. He's 5-0 against ranked ACC teams in his 2.5 years at GT

I think its way too early for the bigger schools to look at him. Brent needs to win 8-10 games over there. That's not happening this year with the injuries at QB and their tough schedule. Ga Tech best outcome is at 6-5 for this season

How long was Elko at duke? Id hate for uf or fsu to get him

He got the benefit of a bye week. Give him credit. But otherwise they would not have been able to implement the tripe option or whatever you call that offense in just a week. I tip my hat to him for figuring out quickly he did not have a chance with his normal offense to win yesterday. But he certainly had a very nice extra week to pull that crap off. But his QB is still banged up and he won’t surprise who he is playing next week.

Elko went 9-4 at Duke in 2022. Brent hasn't even won 7 games in either season. I don't think Ga Tech fans gotta worry about him being pouched by the bigger schools

Fans that don't pay attention to anything outside of Miami di**riding every coach that has a modicum of success, despite the evidence pointing to said coach being mediocre as ****. It's a Miami fan tradition unlike any other. Key is what he is, a decent coach that has a penchant for upsets. You look at the last two years against Miami, GT didn't reinvent the wheel, he lucked out last year from Mario having a brain fart(and TVD giving them multiple INTs), and this year, Miami being unable to set the edge.

GT is what they've been for most of the last 50 years, a barely bowl eligible team with the occasional big year, when they hit on a concept. He hasn't elevated that program on the recruiting trail, he is a steak and potatoes coach. It's nice, when you have limited expectations(Which GT has, they aren't truly committed to being a world class program), but it doesn't work at programs with title aspirations.

Btw I like Brent Keys. I think he's a very good coach that has turn around Ga Tech into a solid team. However, I wouldn't list him as a hot coaching candidate yet.
