Brashard Smith

Is it just me or does he look like a completely different player than how he played at Miami; more explosive, shiftier, faster…just a lot more elusive. At UM I always thought he looked a bit stiff, and not great top end speed. There’s several SMU games this year where I’ve thought to myself, “where the heck was this Brashard at UM?” I’m not even referring to how he’s being utilized by Lashlee, but more so how he looks while playing.
I’ll say he looks like he’s comfortable in that offense… and looks to be selling out on every play as he’s attempting an NFL career

He’s a nice gadget player… he can run the ball a little, he can run a nice route (against a LB) and just give an offense an extra wrinkle

Lashlee moved him RB, unfortunately for him here he was behind X. He is a good player, we could have used him RB this year. But, good for him getting his chance at our minor league team SMU.

I screamed he’s a rb for two years. It’s nice somebody put him there for good.
Yeah. We all knew he's good with the ball in his hands. His problem is he's more than a liability when he's counted on for any kind of blitz pick ups etc. Kid gets bullied. I hope he can make himself a lil more complete cause the kids the goods with the ball.

I think he’s a good player and Lashlee is doing a great job of getting him touches. However, I think CJ Jr is just as good and if given the opportunity could do the same and then some

Which is understandable for a wr moving to rb. But as you know there’s ways around that with somebody as talented as him. You can get that guy touches with tosses , reverses , wild cat , and other creative ways. There should’ve been 8-10 times a game he just hit the ball in space .

CJ is a nice example. hes too explosive to not continue to work him in there

Probably confidence. It does amazing things for athletes. He stood on sidelines majority of time here, hard to get a feel for game and comfortable.

Sometimes people just need to move on, get into a new environment to flourish. I don't think Smith would have done as well if he had stayed at Miami. I'm actually happy he's at SMU, win/win. But for the idiots saying he wasn't talented, you should get your eyes checked.

Still though, to me it’s not even about RB vs WR, how’s he’s being utilized in Lashlee’s offense, etc….its more so he looks more dynamic with the ball in his hands, more electric, faster, etc. For example, at UM I felt like he didn’t have the wiggle / shiftiness he has now. Or he often got tracked down from behind. Now he’s out there looking like LaMichael James.

Yeah I can see him like a Dante Hall kind of thing with the Chiefs. He's got a lot of versatility. Hope things work out for him

Everyone uses CJ as this example. But I'm not positive he's the best of comps. Where's CJ excels is in straight line speed. He's a North & South runner. Brashard to me is a clone of Robbie Washington. Where he's in and out of his cuts and excels to top ends in a heartbeat. They both struggle on the physical side of the game. I really wish we'd find some kind of way to get both Washington's more involved in game days.

When he clowned us during the Rutgers game that was it for me, we weren't cool anymore after that.
