Brandon Taylor (Track Commit)

Kid has a jet pack on his back. WOW! Great speed and shifty. This is the type of speed we used to recruit.

One of the things Art Briles has done with success is take these ultra fast kids and utilized them. I don't know how, but a lot of the speedsters he has found weren't that great of players in HS football, but he figures out how to coach 'em up. Hope we can do something similar with a kid like this. Speed's the ultimate trump card.

I'd love to see more guys like this on the team. Reminds me of Travis Benjamin but he seems comfortable in a slot/scat role whereas Travis played outside comfortably.

More than anything, small or not, you can tell this kid is a football player and I always like the potential with speed like that.

I'm pretty sure it still counts as a football scholly regardless if he's on a track scholly. Right when joins the team it counts .

That keeps coaches from manipulating the system like Butch did.

So he committed?

Yes, for track. But he says he wants to play Spring 2016.

Ok gotcha, was confused. He's definitely got a nose for the endzone and top end speed. He is real tiny though, but he gains a little size and I could see it. Good luck too him.

AL Golden just got fired for adding size to speed guys! The speed guys just need to add strength NOT SIZE. Miami took the country's best high school 110m hurdler in 2012 and made him a Fing fullback (Walter Tucker has been wasted thus far at Miami). I am hoping the new staff has a better idea on how utilize speed players.

Tucker was a state champ, but very far from best in the nation. Artie was actually the best in the nation in 2012.

Ya Plus Walter Tucker had decent Size already coming in, Brandon Taylor however is tiny as can be. But I'd love to see him make it, Lord knows we need speed.

American Heritage senior

Season highlights: Had the fastest time in the county in the 110 hurdles at 13.83, recorded at the Florida Relays.

Hopefully this direct quote from the article, along with the link to the article clears things up.

The Sentinel said he had the best time in the county, not the country. 2 athletes in Texas ran faster times than 13.83 at the state meet.

Tony Brown (DB at Bama now) ran a 13.40 and Ishmael Zamora (WR at Baylor now) ran a 13.7

Not that any of this matters, I was just curious because I knew Tony Brown was in that class. To the point - Tucker was an incredible track star.... ESPECIALLY at his size! Phenomenal speed for a big man. The national record at that time was 13.3.

That was one of their biggest problems Golden didn't know how to utilize speed, he stuck by his Big 10 mentality

Dmoney-is taylor still joining the football team?

Good question. This story just came out last week:

Fastest sprinter in Texas Brandon Taylor has still not ruled out football at Miami

Numbers, for better or worse, tend to define Clear Brook (Friendswood, Texas) senior wide receiver Brandon Taylor.

For the better part, Taylor is the fastest sprinter in Texas, and third-fastest in the country under any conditions, according to athletic.net.

Taylor ran the 100 meters in a wind-aided time of 10.38 seconds at the Texas Southern Relays last month. His best wind-legal time of 10.50 — fourth-best in the country — was set Saturday while winning at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin.

Because of other numbers, namely his size — 5 feet, 7 inches and 145 pounds — Taylor is only graded as a 2-star football recruit by 247Sports, the No. 298 recruit in Texas from the Class of 2016.

He'll attend the University of Miami on a track scholarship, which he's accepted. But he hasn't ruled out playing football for the Hurricanes.

Taylor was a wide receiver, running back and kick returner for Clear Brook. He showed good hands and wasn't afraid of contact. And clearly, judging from his video highlights, creates separation with the best of them.

It depends on whether he was recruited for football or not. If he was recruited for football, then he becomes a counter for football the first time he either practices or plays football.

If he wasn't recruited for football, then he can practice with the football team without becoming a counter. However, he will become a counter for football the first time he plays football.

15.5.9 Multisport Participants.

15.5.9.1 Football. [FBS/FCS] In football, a counter who was recruited (per Bylaw 15.02.8) and/or offered
financial aid to participate in football and who participates (practices or competes) in football and one or more sports (including basketball) shall be counted in football. A counter who was not recruited (per Bylaw 15.02.8) and/or offered financial aid to participate in football and who competes in football and one or more sports (including basketball) shall be counted in football.

Not to highjack this thread but if this guy ends up on scholarship, then Shaun Shivers needs an offer ASAP. Ran a 10.47 last week as a sophomore and is a dude on the football field.
