He’s not wrong. College football is being ruined. It’s not really that fun to follow anymore. It’s just a race to pay for the best players. Even the NFL has a salary cap to equalize paying players. College football is completely out of control and I am afraid it’s beyond repair.

Boise State was not losing players to bigger schools.

Miami was not losing their top returning receiver to Alabama where he will be WR2 at best.

It is what it is. This is why we got Cam. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck to not see your favorite players jump to other teams. I really loved watching Zay play. Going to be hard watching him play for Bama. That’s what I mean by it’s not really fun anymore.

It was not always this. Ten years ago it was breaking news if someone transferred.
Yep. Next season you might get beat by a player that was on your team the year before.

Rivalries mean less and less with all the moving pieces. Used to be fun to recruit guys and watch them develop (or not) over the course of several seasons. “I remember when he was a skinny freshman, now he’s an all-conference type of kid” was some of the best stuff. Ups and downs. Progress. Stories. Setbacks. Breakthroughs. All that.

Now they leave. Like 4 times. So silly to read about guys in the portal moving to their 3rd 4th and 5th schools. I’ve always enjoyed cfb more than the NFL. Starting to feel the same.

Lol.....you kids are so cute when you are young and naive. That race started along time ago.

It's a joke, and a slap in the face to coaches at places like Boise State.

To succeed with lower ranked players requires a lot more detailed evaluations combined with great development.
That used to be the way teams like Boise would make decent runs.

Do that now, and richer schools are coming to take your players. The players that YOU evaluated and developed.

Duke played a bowl game without their starting QB tonight. He's heading to Oregon State.
Duke's QB from last year just won the Sugar Bowl for Notre Dame.
That's TWO high level QB's that Duke recruited/developed... QB's that could've changed the trajectory of their program. Gone.

**** is fvcked up.

It's worse than the NFL IMO. At least there are enforceable contracts and salary cap in the NFL. When we see the first pending UFA in the NFL opt out of the playoffs it will change my mind. lol

That’s the one rule they should put back. Sit out for transfer if they want some sort of control but it will never go back. But the pay for play that was everyone, we did it and everyone else even in our down years. Just schools went crazy and upped those bags and when the new generation of players came around (all about money) we were finished.

Totally agree with everything u said. We opened up a can of worms we cannot put back together. It is a different kind of game this generation is playing, coupled with legal bag game collectives are meddling in. My nephew at UNLV was just offered a package to leave but he choose to stay. Some kids are doing right while others just see the $$$. Not saying they are right or wrong. U make decisions and you learn the consequences. Even HS recruiting has changed for athletes that would usually have spots on FBS rosters. I dont know if anyone could have forseen the impact NIL and the Portal would have on collegiate and HS football. Crazy times forsure Coach.

Randy Shannon almost had him for OC after the Idaho potato bowl in the twilight of 2006. Time flies when one’s stuck in purgatory.
Almost? That’s some revisionist history right there. He hired Patrick Nix and was never getting Koetter.
